Pat Vezpremi - Where is he at?

I don't mean to stir any shit but the word is when we played each other few weeks ago (very good game that:p) deal was done to send him to Richmond end of season.
Only a rumor though and as we know most rumors are bullshit.

I heard this rumour too.

Only it wasn't the game from the MCG it was the game we played each other at the SCG early in the season. The deal was a straight swap Vez for Jack Riewoldt...... you guys are not going to rat on the deal are you.

Sorry to intrude on your board.
But seriously, if young Pat has stagnated the last 2 years, maybe a fresh start is what he needs. What would it take (trading wise) to take him off your hands?
With Sydney's great ability to turn average players into very good, consistant players would a Pat Veszpremi for Mitch Morton + 3rd Rounder do the job?

ROFLMAO!

You Ninthmond mob are the funniest posters on BF!

Why would Richmond want another relatively short, yet to be proven, flanker?????

Yep... sounds like ...Richmond to me:D Put that down as TRUE!!!:thumbsu:

We're not going to give up a proven player in Mitch Morton for Veszpremi. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Muitch Morton, bubble, you broke our hearts

It's pretty clear though from the amount of tiger visitors on the board the supporters have their eyes on him and it's fair to say that some clubs probably will too.

However Vez is under contract and while I'm sure tradable that will push up the price a little as he's not in delisting danger.

swansfan51;18463564Lewis Jetta has the lowest TOG of any non-ruckman in our entire squad said:
Jetta has no issues with endurance.

Up until now, he has sat out large chunks of game time due to an inability to get himself into the play (even just defensive pressure).

It can be hard to win a game of football with only 17 players on the field, but Jetta has speed and outside running ability in spades which the team has lacked hence we have played him for bursts and used him sparingly.

And here we go!!!! The answer to everyones questions why vezpremi isnt getting a game! He hasnt named names in this article but its pretty obvious that vesper is one of the guys!

Seems pretty crystal clear from this article. It really annoys me that (if true) both Vez and Johnston haven't been putting in enough effort in the twos. Both first rounders with big wraps, they should be knocking the bloody door down to get into the firsts:mad:

Hey guys, couldnt really find a generic "Swans trade talk thread" so thought I'd post in here.

In terms of where I see Collingwoods list, I see 3 "needs" to be addressed over the next 2 seasons and I think that atleast one of them is a commodity that Sydney have in surplus. The other two, swans have players who arent getting games, either due to not doing enough at reserve level, or not being able to break into the team in specific positions. Also, I like Collingwood trading with Sydney, other than the Nick Davis trade, i think trades between the two clubs have been even and incredibly successful.

OK, so the number 1 player I'd be chasing if I was involved with trading and drafting at Collingwood: Dan Currie. Yes, we got a ruckman off you last season. Unfortunately it seems as though Cam Wood may end up heading back north, or could even request a trade home. Either way, he hasnt been doing enough to get infront of Leigh Brown (Who has been in great form mind you) but as Sydney have shown, ruck depth can never be a bad thing. In terms of trade value, Currie would be far from a 1st round pick even in the compromised draft. Assuming Collingwood make the grand final they will have a first round pick around 24/25 and a 2nd rounder at 41/42... now I wouldnt be totally Happy trading our 2nd round pick for Currie as I do feel that it is slightly over the odds for a player who is yet to make his debut, I would think something like our 2nd and 4th round picks for Currie and the Swans 3rd rounder would be something closer to equal value.

Next on the want list would be a forward flanker / midfielder to join the brigade of beams, sidey, dids, etc. Pat Vezspremi is a kid that I was heaps keen on in 2007 but knew as soon as we traded out of the first round that we were no chance. The problem is, how do you value someone who for what ever reason hasnt had the opportunity to shine at AFL, but is continuously in the bests at reserve level (even if it is only ACTAFL) I think something around our 1st rounder is in the ball park, but given the raps on Pat pre draft, i dont think a mid 20's pick is enough.

Ill wrap up with a combined trade idea.

Currie and Vesvpremi -> Collingwood
Picks 25 and 42 -> Sydney

Under the odds for Vesz, but overs for Currie.

They're both contracted for next year so that is a very unlikely scenario.

I'm not sure whether you were aware but Currie was chased by Collingwood when they were trading for a ruckman in the same year that you ended up getting Wood. The club said no then and would probably say no now.

I actually didnt know that... You dont think that the events of last seasons trade period combined with the improvement by Pyke would put Sydney in a position to move on a player who would be considered 4th choice ruck?

I obviously don't speak for the club but I can't see why Sydney would sacrifice their own ruck depth to bolster another clubs, particularly when they've spent 4 years developing him and his body is only just starting to be AFL level ready.

Either you (or a hypothetical club) thinks Currie has what it takes to be a decent ruckman, in which case a lousy pick in the 40s is hardly "paying over" given you won't have to incubate him on your list for 4 years while he develops physically. Or alternatively, his failure to play for 4 years indicates he is a dud, in which case why would you bother trading for him.

You seem to be trying to split the middle.

I don't think having 4 capable ruckmen is over the odds, though it could get to a point where one wants to leave for better opportunities (ala Mumford, or Jolly). We don't have much depth across our whole squad in terms of height, and given Seaby and/or Currie may be capable of holding down a key forward role if required, means we could arguably play 3 of them on the ground at any time. North have played well at times with at least 3 out of McIntosh, Petrie, Hale and Goldstein on the ground.

I guess the problem is judging the value of draft picks this year, and no doubt teams are going to value picks differently and I would argue that the where "inner sanctum" see the list has a bearing of the "value" of draft picks. SO much has to be factored into the draft now-a-days, list space, the ideals of bringing a squad up together (Geelong 05-10+) (Collingwood 06-10+) and whether or not the introduction of Gold Coast deflates or inflates draft pick value?

This may sound a bit blunt but......

Either Currie can go or he can't, and no-one except his coaches and I guess recruiters know that. If he can go, then the Swans have been nursing him until he is good and ready and he is worth a top pick. If he's second string then that is his value. Speculating on a 40 something pick is pretty stupid when we don't know the answer to that question.

Re: Veszpremi to the Gold Coast!

Weird. I thought he'd already signed for Richmond (despite still being under contract with the Swans next year).

(BTW, there is already a long thread about Vez and all the possible places he might be playing next season.)

Re: Veszpremi to the Gold Coast!

I'm sick to death of all this Vez talk. I want him to stay of course and thought at times this year he deserved a go in the 1's, but fck me all this talk about him leaving or not leaving and all this hysteria about how we can't let him leave is doing my head. I see a very solid future for the Swans with ror without Vez so if he doesn't want to do what the coaches have told him to do and wants to leave i honestly don't care anymore. If he wants to stay, great. But i'm just over it.

time of the month ......:D

Re: Veszpremi to the Gold Coast!

He is contracted to the Swans for next season. He can't decide who he plays for next year. So the only way he can play elsewhere next year is via a trade and even then we decide who to make a trade with not him. How many times does this have to be told?
