Patrick Dangerfield 'dangerous tackle' - gone or safe?

Think he will be free to play but won’t be long before the afl follow the nrl in terms of outlawing hip drop tackles like this so it will become a suspension in the future

Been a few examples of these tackles creeping into the game this year and if the AFL will want to stamp it out before it becomes common practice and players cop severe injuries from them

Shouldnt get weeks, but will. Any time a players head his the ground in a tackle with any force then its more likely than not that the tackler will get weeks regardless of tackling technique.

didn't drive him downward into the ground and didn't seem intentional. it's not like you can weigh up whether or not you should release one of two arms mid tackle, you grab and that's it. it was odd how danger's legs ended up in front of himself.
seems kind of a soft example compared to others. if sam walsh didn't suffer any after effects you might be able to argue he instilled some amount of duty of care to avoid those after effects.

Walsh did nothing of the sort. His body landed on the ball. If you know anything about momentum, you'd retract this.
Ummm yes he did. Did it twice during last nights game. CLEARLY drove his head forward. Even the buffoon BT picked up on it.

Anyway Danger will get a week because of the inconsistency.

Who knows & who cares, game is cooked. Shouldn't be a suspension but it will be if I had to guess. As other posters have noted, Walsh tried to dupe the umpires a few times by forcibly throwing his head to the ground during tackles

Um, no he didn't. Do you understand bio-mechanics? BT has now accused 4 of our players of deliberately hitting their own heads, this season alone.

He is a little irrational when it comes to Carlton, and practically barracks against us during his commentary.

He definitely did drive his head in the ground on one later, he didn't do it on this one. This one was all momentum, you can see by how much the head bounced to see there was no control in it

0 weeks
Pins both arms yes - you have to try and get somebody holding the ball otherwise they'll dispose of it
He was driving the force down whilst Walsh was trying to go forward in order to get an in the back free kick - hence the head contact.

As the president of the AFLPA he should know better than to tackle in that manner. He has to protect the opposition player at all costs and he failed to do so. He should be rubbed out to set an example to everyone else. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Given no damage was done and the Maynard tackle looked massively more dangerous the MRO is just completely compromised.

Last weeks tackle? What a horrendous call. It was as soft as butter, had no arms pinned. The only suspicious thing about it was the sling motion

I guess the MRO decided Walsh didn't do it himself. I don't care whether it was a week or not. Blaming Walsh for staging is ridiculous and none of you would have said it about your own players.
