i have heard a rumour that carlton want paul roos to coach carlton next year or vossey.
i really doubt pagan will be there next year past his used by date.
has anyone heard this.
Wont be Roos, he's a man of his word and he's said he wont be a career coach. After his stint at Sydney that will be it for his coaching career.
Voss would for sure be head-hunted to some capacity as an assistant, but I'd think he'd have to go through hell to prove his senior coaching capability.
We will take a big risk bringing in a bloke who has not coached for one second in the big leagues on a team of impressionable youngsters, we could have Watson and StKilda all over again.
Heard the same rumour. Someone who works with Greg Swan's sister. Apparently Pratty has told Swan to go up there with an open cheque book. Regardless of whether we are successful or not, I think it is pretty much guaranteed that Pagan won't be coach next year. I for one am happy with that.
Sounds like a load of rubbish to me. I can't see Roos coming to Carlton. If we did get rid of Pagan, I would much rather we went through a process similar to Hawthorn a few years back to make sure we got the right person for the Job.
One of the biggest complaints about Pagan is that he is on big bucks and people think he isn't producing. Where would the sense in offering someone $5 Million over 5 years be?
I just can't see the logic in that. Would be much better spent ensuring the club's financial position is stable and we have the right people at all levels of the football department eg Recruiting.
Pratt's mantra since he has become President is that he wants the best person for the job. Clearly, Pagan is not that person. Will be interesting to see what happens at years end.
He seems to get a hell of lot out of a group of players that individually are not super impressive. He is tactically astute and knows how to get the team playing for each other. He spreads the load during the game and manages to get his team to peak exactly when it should, when it is heading into finals. Would love to seem him at Carlton. Just need a major new sponsor to pay for him and for Denis's payout.
Would rather Voss. Think he is a man of very strong morals and character. Perfect for what this Carlton group needs. Perhaps 2 years as a Brittain type assistant would be the best way to ease him in.
