Desperate Ambulance chaser who believes in his own hype and has the charisma of a block of wood.

Over sensationalises boring and otherwise unimportant/irrelevant stories to the point of making mountains out of mole hills. Comes across as being completely self important and whenever he interviews someone he seems to ride on an extremely high horse.

Capable of reasonable journalism when he isn't sitting in the gutter or seeking to ruin someone else for his own aggrandizement.

For a simple Journalist he is featured far too much in the sports media, from his slot on the Footy Show to Footy Classified, for what he is, he is too far over exposed.

As it was said before he seems to pick sides (usually the wrong side) and stick with it so zealously as to drive people to read his articles or watch his interviews simply for the spectacle that is his perpetual floundering.

Finally, seems to perpetuate an annoying personality, otherwise known as a tosser.

If you look at Channel 9's footy shows, they are centred around ego driven so called macho men that think they are great.

I suppose to survive in footy media these days you have to be an ego driven tool - McGuire, Lyon, Newman, BT, Brayshaw, Dunstall, Hutchy, Tony Jones, Damien Barrett, Patrick Smith, Wayne Carey. All ego maniacs, and if you're not you don't survive amongst them. The media makes them like this.

I played against him in indoor footy a few times down at westgate and he actually had a work experience kid (assuming he was anyway) doing his stats on the sideline.

Unfortunately both Hutchinson & Wilson are prepared to write anything that will sensationalise an issue. Both work on sources & inuendo : When they get it wrong then don't apologise. (Except when threatened with legal action).

Both get paid very handsomely from the game; yet never write about the
positives in Football. :- The game owes them nothing , they owe the game, yet are prepared to kick a head when an opportunity arises

Used to like him on Channel 7. Slimy now.

Even when told not to, he named Kosi as part of the Milne/Montagna sexual assualt scandal.

His then employer ch 7 had to make an out of court settlement to Kosi afte he sued. Figure is unknown however I have heard it was substantial.

As a TV presenter he is hopeless. On SEN on Saturdays his is not bad. Mabye he is letting his natural personality come out and not trying to be sensational or provocative as he is on FC or TFC.

Still make you wonder why Ch 7 would let him go the year they won back the footy if he is so respected.

FWIW he is a very good journo who occasionally crosses the line in an attempt to get the big exclusive story. He learned a hell of a lot from the Kosi debacle.

The fact is to be a successful footy journo you have to be able to get the inside goss or be the first on the scene when news breaks. It's a ruthless industry (how many registered AFL footy journos are there again?) and nice guys/gals finish last.

It's easy for those of us with a desk job to sit back and berate Hutchy/Caro etc for the way they go about their work.

Can't believe people think he is a good journalist. This bloke is no war correspondent. He is at the bottom of the journalistic pile. He talks up matters of little consequence, as breaking stories and big scoops. He basically gets stories no body else could be stuffed with, he got "exclusives" on Ben Cousins cause he stalked him like a psycho ex girlfriend all the way to the USA.
No other journos can be stuffed sitting in their car for days eating donuts staking out Kevin Sheedy. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Why would anybody need to stake out Kevin Sheedy when the bloke would give an interview to the local school paper if they asked him nicely.

I didnt use to mind him but over the last couiple of years I'd have to say hes crawled about as low journalistically as you can go in my books (though I'd guess hes usually more accurate than Caro), and his focus/obsession with off field behaviour etc just bores me as generally its irrelevent to Football as a whole unless you get off on scandal and gossip.

That said I was probably amused at a few of the things he found (yes I can spell hypocrisy ) out about but he absolutely beats it to death trying to get every inch out of things that are pretty irrelevent to the game itself.

I'd probably put the majority of the blame on the footy media as a whole though trying to get their papers bought so the moral majority can sit back and go "tch, tch, tch shame on...". The standard nowdays seems to be on the level of ACA or TT and Hutchy is good at it
