The 'going view' you are referring to is pushed by SEN and denied by both Reid himself(when he was in Perth), his manager (who was very strong that it wouldn't be an issue), as well as his coach.

If it was, they'd temper their language and be vague about it. The fact they've been very strong in denying it leads to it being complete BS, despite what wannabe ITKs try to troll with in this thread.
I honestly don’t care who gets reid, but expecting anything except a flat denial from reid and his management about not being up for an interstate move is absurd. I have no idea whether or not he is willing to relocate, but if he wasn’t, then denying it would be the bare minimum he could do to preserve the eagle’s negotiating power when it does come to trading the pick.

That makes sense from a draft point of view. ie. if it’s just your own reverse order pick.

But from a trade value perspective I think it’s different. You may not ever have access to them but they’re still the 8th best player in the draft which means whoever you pick is “worth” less, which reduces the trade value imo.
Yeah, I see both points. I just have always felt those guys weren't even really in the draft. Same as the f/s.

I have it on good authority that Reid for WCE is a done deal. Effectively pen to paper, accomodarion in place etc..

Club not allowed to release to the public so as not to ruin the mystic of draft day. Reid obviously not allowed to disclose.

So are you going to believe the people who have flat out denied the speculation and got annoyed to the point that Sam McClure admitted on live TV that he actually had no Intel and it was simply his personal belief.

Or are you going to believe the same 4 'journalists' who do nothing other than quote and retweet each others' articles?

I've seen Reid himself be very coy when answering questions about it. he was asked on gettable about moving to Perth and he looked very shakey and said the very opposite of what you'd want to hear if you're an Eagles fan.

Spot on

Its basically working out whos likely to be available at that pick. Easier to be done with picks closer to 1

Well, thankfully there's this thing called time and when it passes, people's opinions and feelings towards certain thing in their life can change.

I'll link you a wiki article if you wish to find out more about time.

No. I was explaining why people are writing articles saying that trading the pick is the correct move. The only time that reid spoke on this without it being a prepared statement he was very cagey about the prospect of moving interstate. Maybe he is willing to go and maybe he’s not, but of course journos are going to write about it as a prospect, it’s far more interesting than single paragraph articles saying “reid and his management have stated he’s happy to move anywhere so there’s no point discussing it”

Yes you're right, they're doing it entirely for views, even though it's not representative of the truth whatsoever.

Such is the standard of journalism these days.

Twomey again running with pick 1 for pick 2 and port pick... Legit or Victorian conspiracy?
If we want Curtin this is what will happen imo. Eagles supporters will want more in the deal, North supporters will just want Eagles to take Curtin with 1.

But it would end months of trade and draft distraction, Reid gets the adoration and the NAB financial benefit of being the first pick, and its done out of respect between two clubs who have a good relationship.

Dude, stop buttering up to North supporters for like.

Of course he will say publicly his not a flight risk. What do people think his going to say

“I want to draft tamper so I told WCE I am not going to stay if I am drafted”?

Kid is not an idiot, it would be done via subtle hints so that he is considered a flight risk in WCE recruiters heads without needing to outright say it. Any public statements would be in-line with what his media training has taught him which is to tow the line.

Didn’t he make a comment about like being near his family in an interview? If so that’s it right there. That single seed of doubt he needs to plant.

I said if we want Curtin. If we want Reid or if we want to trade the pick to Melbourne for two firsts and van Rooyen then my scenario obviously wont happen.

Van Rooyen isn’t in any conversations.

If he were thought it would only be pick 5 and Van Rooyen.

Agreed, the comments made Reid look like a homebody and it would weaken our position if we choose to put the pick up for bidding.

Obviously not a good source but word on our board was that you blokes had tabled an early offer of Freo's first, your first and VR for pick 1 and change.

5 (likely 7 when North get compo for McKay leaving and a bid on Walter) + 17/18 (if you make PF week and lose) and VR is a fair offer imo

Would rather you blokes get pick 4 from GC and offer 4 and 5 for 1 and 19, but I imagine you'd rather just take 4 and 5 to the draft in that case.

Doesn't matter, WCE will pick him regardless, if they deem him better than any offers.

Wouldn’t make sense, you don’t need VR whereas we do and would value him higher.
Rivers or McVee would make a hell of a lot more sense as they would complement WC more.

If his considered a flight risk it would be a big gamble. What if he sulks it up or takes mental health leave to go see his family, or goes down the JHF path.
