Interesting... People should listen to this from the 6 minutes and 50 seconds onwards....

Demons doing a massive plan to get pick 1.

1st move....

trade Grundy , pick 24 and 34 to the swans for pick 11, 30 and 41.
that leaves the demons with 5, 11, 15, 30, 41 and 89.

2nd trade, trade 15, 30 and 41 to Gold coast for their pick 4.

Then trade picks 4 and 5 to the eagles for pick 1.

That's an idea from a listener, so saying it's the Demons' plan is misleading.

fantasy stuff

I think it's fairly clear by now that these 'experts' don't actually understand how the points system works, or consider the needs of the clubs they propose trades for, especially interstate ones.
Reminds me when David King said that Gold Coast should trade its first 2 picks this year for picks next year since they wont be able to use them

I can tell he had no idea that they actually need draft picks to convert to points. He thinks its like before when you just use your next pick and thats all you need to match a bid

Only scenario that pick 1 gets traded this year imo is if North offered pick 2 & 3/F1 which shouldn't happen.

West Coast rightly want premium payment and wouldn't want to drop below pick 3 in any trade. North could provide this but it wouldn't make much sense to do so given the amount of holes in the list that could be filled by keeping picks 2 & 3.

So GC effectively throw pick 4 away for no return other than some picks they don't need?

Any club incl WCE would never trade pick 2 & 3 for 1.

And North are not trading either unless a godfather offer came in.

And so whatever Melb tries is irrelevant.

Anyone else see Reids best position at AFL level as not a mid?

Have noticed a lot of WCE supporters saying how he's exactly what they need in that he's a mid, but I still think his best footy had been behind the ball and deep forward...

Potentially yes.

He could play the Toby Green half forward role. Get his 20 and 2 average.

Or he could play the attacking half back roll like Nick Daicos / Sheezel.

And he can pinch hit late in quarters to provide a rotation on ball.

The Eagles have been building some solid inside mids. Robertson sounds like he is coming in with Culley, Ginbey and Hewett as bigger mids.

Then there is Kelly, Sheed and x 2 rotations for the young developing mids. Preferably attacking balanced mids. Reid and Chesser?

Yeo is retired to defense.

Gaff plays his wing role, not as an inside mid.

If Melbourne win the flag, would they be prepared to trade 5 for Hawthorn's 2024r1.
If so, would west coast accept 3,5 for 1?
Or 1,19 for 3,5?
Or could it be a three way trade where
Hawks: gain1, lose 3,2024r1.
Melbourne: gain 2024r1,19 lose 5, 2024r2
Wc gain 3,5 ,2024r2 lose 1,19.

Or if Melbourne doesn't want this, could GWS be involved instead ( with pick 6).

That's so deeply flawed. You're basically saying that stats tell you everything about a player. How silly. Like on grand final day, there's a 1 on 1 between Darcy Parish vs Jack Viney. whose your money on? Darcy Parish because he averages more contested possessions? 😀
Well obviously Jack Viney but it would also require the Dons to win final(s) so I guess we’ll never know the answer. 🤷‍♂️

it's not terrible but I don't see the dees trading 5 for a F1. It's sort of delaying the selection for a year for no particular reason.

We won't split at all because the draft is a joke. We have GC Academy's and Sanders and a draftee like Watson who's predicted at pick 5&6 who is a major flight risk and won't be going to the Eagles. Why would Eagles move back when we have disrespectful draftees like Watson who will refuse to move. We won't even interview him after his comments on this podcast below. Doesn't deserve to play AFL. Hate him already with his lack of respect.

Listen to this at the 27 minute mark
Draftee Watson thoughts about going to the Eagles. Also makes no sense with his comment as Eagles packed stadiums even this year where we finished last we had 50-60k crowds. Don't think these two numb skulls know what there talking about. Sound like they are high on something or just really dumb.

This is our delemia now at the draft.
AFL need to fix the draft it's become such a farce. At least Reid is fine going to the Eagles and been enquiring about living arrangements. It's pretty much now a case of rubber stamping it. No splitting from our part.

Pick 5 does nothing at all for us.

Combined intelligence of an asparagus in that room.
