After reading last couple of pages …… anyone on here got caught up in that illegal factory casino fiasco during the week!

This is literally what we paid for Jackson but with an extra 1st chucked on top and it’s not enough. The value of pick 1 continues to make no actual sense
I don't think the issue is that pick 1 makes no sense. I think the issue is that pick 1 (or any pick) is not a human. Melbourne could only trade Jackson with Fremantle, meaning only Fremantle's assets were in play.

Pick 1 can truly be an auction. Theoretically any club can offer anything for it.

Any deal has to net us Curtin or McKercher you’d think, otherwise don’t bother asking.

Only way a deal like that would make sense would be if Reid explicitly says he’s not leaving and we just try to get something of value out of the trade like last year. Even then I’m inclined to just take Reid anyway because I don’t feel as though we’d get the same result.

Wardlaw for Ginbey and Hewett is a huge W on our end and worked for North too. I can’t see Reid for Duursma and pick 15 having the same sort of win win scenario.
Yep - I think a Melb/WC deal will only happen if Melbourne scrape together a deal for 4 with GC (and so have 4 and.5) and NM don't get pick 3 compensation (but they get the NGA exclusion instead).

I'd guess it's 50/50 for those two conditions to occur at this stage.

It might need a 3 or 4 club pick swap to make it happen - to give GC the points this year and Melbs F1, with Melbourne organic first this year goes elsewhere (or is kept) to not be consumed in a GC academy bid.

lol.

keep van Rooyen, take Duursma, take 15, Harley leaves in 2 years
Much like Serong hey.
Every Vic player goes in two years in your mind so you might aswell trade him now.

Stupid logic

By the way Shuey just retired who was drafted from Vic and had his whole career at the Eagles much like Duggan. Did they go in two years just because.

Except Reid doesn't want to go to WA
How would you know. Making crap up or reading fake media articles.

The only person I believe is Harley Reid himself. Who's gone on and said that his fine going to Eagles and anywhere.
That's all anyone needs to know. Not some garbage media who's been trying to get clicks.

Going to be fascinating watching this play out.

Personally I think North are in the box seat to trade up for pick 1 if WCE prefer taking Curtin. Cannot see us paying more then Pick 2 and Port pick though. Pick 2 & 3 for Pick 1 are delusions of grandeur.

Whether Sanders is prelisted or requires a bid will have a part to play in this. Because it means North won’t actually be able to use that pick.

I don’t see the Dees offer as likely, simply because it won’t secure WCE Curtin. They aren’t trading away the rights of Reid for Duursma/Watson (Freos pick) and likely a worse later pick (Melbournes first).

North - Pick 1
WCE - Pick 2 & 15

This scenario or WCE taking Reid are the only two possibilities IMO.

You don’t seriously believe this do you? There isn’t just smoke, it’s a bloody bush fire in Tongala.

Keep Reid

Offer picks 19 (948), future 2nd (948) and no bid on Walters (976) for GC pick 4 (2046)

1906 points for 2882 points. Win win

I hope WC do offer that. I will enjoy getting pick 2 when WC get stripped of their draft picks.

That is absolute trash. We wouldn't even land one of reid, mckercher, curtin or duursma, not to mention walter. Those other picks probably get pushed back 5 extra spots too due to academy picks. Please tell me this isn't even in the realm of possibility of being accepted?

15 plus 24 is pick 4 points value. Would still need to add a future pick.

End up with picks 4, 5 and a F1st for pick 1.

Its not far off at all. Two top 10 picks and a future 1st.

Melbourne trade for Suns pick 4 and they have whats needed.

We end up with two of Curtin, McKercher or Duursma. Plus a future 1st and retain our 2024 1st.

Eagles wont trade Reid for unders to just land Curtin IMO.

Melbourne get pick 4 from the Suns and with that Eagles get two of Curtin, Duursma or McKercher. More than happy with either two of the three. Plus a F1st in a mid fielders draft in 2024.

Add six 1st rounders in 3 drafts. Last year 9 and 14, 4 and 5 this draft, pick 1/2 and Dees 1st in 2024.

I agree that WCE won’t trade pick 1 for unders. However I disagree that Pick 2 and Pick 15 for Pick 1 is unders.

It would be a great deal if WCE & Melbourne are able to manufacture a deal that nets WCE both Freo’s and GC’s pick. I just think it’s unlikely.

On paper, 2 + 15 for 1 isn't unders but that isn't a deal we should be entertaining. Then factor in how far pick 15 is likely to slide and that offer is well short.

I would expect two top 10's to be the minimum.

2 and 15 is unders and it’s difficult to argue other wise.

When Adelaide put an offer to NM for pick 1. The deal was pick 4, a future first (pick 4) and Demons future first (14).

GWS was willing to part with 3, 12 and Collingwoods future 2nd to get pick 1 in the Mega trade last year.

Those deals were so clubs could have access to JHF and Aaron Cadman, and I’d place Reid as a higher talent than those two.

So in that sense, 2 and what is currently pick 16 is well unders.

It should be 750 points. 25% of 3000.
But then the next team can bid on him? The benefit to Gold Coast is only 25% of the difference to the next pick, right?
