If the latest draft projections are correct and GC Academy picks go at 2, 7 & 12 they are going to need more points.

They have 4191 points to cover 4343 deficit. Trading Pick 4 would need to be for 2034+152 points just to break even.

Not many teams have the draft asset's this year and next. Any offer would have to be compelling as they need an additional 2186 points this year before they consider anything for next year.

WC have the draft capital and could offer a package for pick 4.

Maybe 2x2nd, 2x3rd & a F2nd. Quality over quantity
You are analysing correctly pre trade period but ignoring that they will close much of the gap themselves. Hollands will get a good pick they trade sharp burgess Chol and maybe others. They can get lions first from dogs for later picks they are in no trouble at all. Then their first goes to who in their eyes offers the best f1. Prett simple really.

Too many people think GCS need their first for points. They have known this is coming and been stocking up for ages. They have talent leaving and they can the points they need from those trades.

Is West Coast going to rebuild by taking 2 picks in every national draft?

We’ll be here for 8 years as they turnover their list.

They're not 'suggested' trades.

Consider this, you own a brand new Ferrari, which you just paid $500k for. You don't want to sell it, because you just bought it.

Some clown comes up offering a Mercedes-Benz EQS for $330k, a Nissan patrol for $90k and a Volkswagen Toureg for $120.

Sure, those 3 cars combined cost over $500k but you don't really want them. Instead, you really want your Ferrari.

Are you going to sell your beloved car for 3 others which, despite being good, aren't really what you want, just because it's a 'fair' deal?

No, you're going to tell the pleb trying to give you 3 cars to bog off and you're going to enjoy your Ferrari.
How come there is a thread on the WCE board saying 'Should we take Reid or Curtin'? I thought the choice was between a Ferrari and a Nissan patrol :) A surprising amount of discussion for such an easy decision. Seems like you misread the talent pool bz

How come you find it so difficult to understand basic concepts?

Why are all the opposition supporters touting pick 2 and 16 as a good trade to make? All the evidence and rumours from the eagles suggests that it needs to be significantly in the favour of west coast for any trade to happen. Yes 2 and 16 is a fair trade but that is exactly why they would not be making that trade.

You've been warned a few times about this. I'm going to do it one last time.

Firstly, dragging across discussions from other boards is not allowed. If you wish to contribute to a discussion you've found on the West Coast board or any other board, you may do so on those boards as long as you abide by the rules of the board you are on.

Secondly, your inability - or refusal - to comprehend the basic premise of threads is staggering. After a 5 second look at the thread in question (and that's being very generous) it is really clear that the thread is not what you suggest it may be.

It's not the first time you've either missed the point of a thread, or deliberately chosen to misrepresent it. Let it be the last on here, thanks.

You said in your post that you'd never sell your Ferrari. Then why does half of your supporters talk about Curtin and pick swapping?

People on that board talk about pick swapping because it is a legitimate story which affects their club. That’s why it’s on the club board.

I’d say almost no one really wants to trade the pick unless it’s ridiculous overs. Those that are open to it, don’t really want Curtin, most would prefer McKercher.

Maric is a flanker. Has the physical presence of Curtis Taylor.

The part about presence is complete bullshit. He has forward presence in spades.

Is he a flanker, or is he an 18 year KPF who hasn’t had an AFL pre-season and has been in the AFL system for 12 weeks?

Maric could be anything. We don’t know yet. But he’s putting up comparable numbers to JVR despite being almost 18 months younger and playing in a team with significantly less supply.

Literally had Yeo on the bench in the bulldogs game raving to Simmo about how tough he is.

I think it's clear as day that Danster's not watched a WCE game since the 2018 prelim...

I can't comment as it not relevant to pick 1 but JVR won't be involved in anything.

I think Melbourne will offer 3 first rounders for Reid. 5, 15, F1 and maybe some really lose change like a pick 35 or something.

I think you’re right. This will be Melbourne’s first offer.

West Coast will hang up the phone and tell Melbourne not to bother calling back until you’re actually serious, and have a serious offer.

what do you expect? 3 first rounders is a generous offer with one of those being pick 5.

The obvious counter is that the F1 and pick 15ish this year are late first rounders which is true, but that's fair enough considering you'd be getting pick 5, only 4 spots lower.

I know we’re not allowed to quote posts from other threads, but I’d remind you of your own views on first round picks from the Luke Jackson trade last year

“Basically 2nd rounders”

“Will be in the 20’s once NGA and F/S bids”

“not all firsts are the same”.

Go back and remind yourself what you were saying about Jackson’s value.

Then come back and discuss what you think Reid is worth.

yeah I 100% agree with everything you just said but melbourne didn't get a pick in the top 13 for Luke Jackson. Until Fremantle unexpectedly bottomed out and gave us the pick we deserved.

But also, Jackson was proven at afl level. Reid is pure speculation. They don't have the same trade value. Would freo trade Jackson for Reid now? hell no. One was on the AA squad playing in a hard position, the other one is unproven.

Someone on our board floated 3 our f2 and brockman which is about a realistic as this offer from the Dees. after what’s been a really tough year for the eagles you need some hilarity. Maybe the list management team should come to Marvel early, for fan engagement, and allow supporters to come in and make offers for Reid on behalf of their club. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Going from 3 to 1 is a minor upgrade. Hawks wouldn't offer much more.

Wouldn’t that be a treat.

If we were to trade it, my preferred clhb would be Hawks because I think that could actually net us 3&4 from GCS, but ITK on your board,
and people I know have said Hawks don’t have interest in trading up.

The difference being , pick 1 is a draft pick and not a player, so West Coast has zero imperative to trade it if the offer isn’t right.

Melbourne had zero rights over Jackson as he was an out of contract player, and essentially needed to do a deal.

So unless it’s a deal that includes your first, GCS first and another first round pick, i can’t really see Harley in red and blue.

You keep assessing this with maths and points when it is about players and needs. Pick 3 Duursma a talented half forward is a long way off 1 Reid an almost flawless
Utility. How would you differentiate between petracca and Fritsch for example? Fritsch a very good player but a long way off petracca right? That’s what I believe we are talking about. Eagles are happy to take Reid who wouldn’t be so it will take much more than maths to prize the pick.
What dees offer is pick 6 plus 2 picks likely to be around 20.
