CLUBS EYE POWER FORWARD

OLLIE Lord is attracting interest from Victorian clubs, amid Port Adelaide's pursuit of Gold Coast forward Jack Lukosius.

Collingwood is in the market for a key forward and has enquired, while Melbourne has held long-term interest in Lord and is also understood to be keeping tabs.

Lord signed a two-year contract extension last December that ties him to the Power until the end of 2026, after Geelong made an advance during the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

Port Adelaide has assured the 22-year-old he is part of the future of the club and doesn't want to trade him, despite Lukosius requesting a move to the Power.

Veteran key forward Charlie Dixon called time on his 14-season career on Wednesday, while Todd Marshall faces some uncertainty after another concussion ended his season. Lord should get more opportunity at Port Adelaide in 2025, but rivals are keeping an eye on his situation in South Australia. – Josh Gabelich

If people don’t think Lord will make it, and someone is offering a 2nd round pick, why arent you calling for a trade?

Lord had a horrible injury at the exact wrong moment that threw his season.
Unfortunately Lord wouldn't have much trade value. Someone offers a 2nd rounder, great but that's the same fantasy as we're getting 2 top 5 picks for Houston.
You may as well hold on for another year as he's contracted and if he surprises us that's great. I personally haven't seen anything to suggest he will other than the vague notion I like a strong athletic target in the forward line and he has that look, if not the ball finding ability.

I tend to agree.

If Port hold him for 2025 and Lord still doesn’t come on, then Lord, himself, will probably want a trade.

Unless a club comes with absolute overs, then Lord is a solid hold for me.

Personally he is worth more to us here, than what he will be worth in picks. Its the same deal with Houston. If we don't get 2 firsts he is more use to us here. Club are doing the right thing playing hard ball.

This off season Lord just needs to lock himself into same gym that Thilthorpe did. He has the frame and shoulders that could make him massive, similar to the Tom Lynch physique.
Yeah i agree

We should get Riley Thilthorpe to take ollie lord into the cave and bulk up

Not to mention improve his goal kicking. Too many times when he has lined up for goal especially at the left forward pocket, he always kicks it to the right point post.

Have seen a Collingwood supporter suggest Lord for Richards.

Richard’s is worth what every other fringe out of contract player is

3/5ths of **** all.

Like we got with young, ah chee, Austin , hombsch.

Hell at least some of those guys had more than 10 games under their belt.

I just don't understand.

What are the Victorian clubs seeing about Lord that we aren't?
They probably see him exactly as we do. He's a developing tall forward that isn't playing.

Its not like the Victorian teams circling him are planning on offering his a 5 year deal on good money, and putting up a 1st round pick for trade.

They're probably eyeing off signing him on a relatively low paid, 3 year deal and offering up a 4th round pick.

With Dixon retiring, and Ratuglea not looking that great at either end of the ground, hopefully Lord can have a big preseason and show some goal scoring consistency next year, as aside from his 4 goals against brisvegas in last years finals there haven't been too many other performances for the Power, or the Maggies to get excited about.

Re him developing any ruck craft, from what I have seen (albeit only on tv) he has NFI at the caper.

“Ollie Lord, I wouldn’t be trading him for anyone!” were the words of Port Adelaide board member Warren Tredrea today. Last year Lord kicked four goals in our final against Brisbane. It would be great to see Lord and Georgiades fit and firing in the same forward line next year.

I'm with you, Tredders.
