Pendlebury was definitely a smokey.

As I originally stated, generally Hine has played a straight bat with early picks. Pendlebury and maybe de Goey the exceptions. Guessing we would have taken beams early is just that. A guess. Bottom line is we didn’t. Hine played a straight bat when Sidebottom was still available at 11.

There’s no guessing about it. Hine quite openly said in an interview after the 08 draft that we were planning to take Beams but took Sidebottom instead when they realized he was still available.

So he took a slider instead of a smokie. Straight bat played despite what they may have planned.

Watched the all star game earlier and allayed most of my reservations about stephenson to the extent that if he falls to us we should pull the trigger even if Coffield/Fogarty still around. Was very impressive and we need better outside midfielders and more pace in the forward line.

Sier, was he a chance to be a first rounder and a high one at that. No.
He is a project. Bonar is not and could play round one in the seniors.

If I had to guess.

That'd give us our pick of Coffield, Stephenson, Fogarty, Bonar and Naughton. That's a strong position to be in and illustrates why we held on to pick 6. I'm surprised we haven't been more linked to Stephenson actually because I think he fits our needs.

Logue, Hamling and Pearce broke his leg not ACL. Johnson provides cover too. What do they have up forward and in the midfield?
