Shifter would talk up a bloke that’s had an arm amputated he’s probably the last bloke I’d go to for this type of stuff. Think of him as a Walmart spruiker who’s job is literally to talk up any and every prospect!

True. Part of the reason why it's hard to take everything Twomey says seriously is because he's also reluctant to talk any player down. The players or their families are generally their best sources so he can't get them offside.

and unfortunately Naughton. Even though Hine said mids/utility on the CFC video, I'm not buying what he's selling.
Mid/utility and then select on needs with later picks was what he said. To me that screams KPP at 38 and categorically rules out reaching for Naughton at 6.

Twomey is a great re.. apparently staying in a plush apartment directly opposite the ANZ stadium.. to do what reeee.. phantom drafts? The AFL shoulda just flown him in an hr before the draft instead of misappropriating their funds.

You're a great Twomes!

Agree. I don’t think there’s any reason for Hine to bluff at this point.

Freo and Kangas would have already made up their mind. Whoever we are planning to take would have no bearing on their decision making whatsoever.

ie you don’t just change your mind and take someone cos another team wants them*, you do what’s best for your club.

*only exception to this rule is Freo who have two top ten picks sandwiched around Kangas pick, which is why they may go Cerra at 2.

Doesn’t get it as in what’s required to be a pro footy player, or doesn’t get it as in he’s clueless on the field?

The latter, but worse he didn’t get it on the training track let alone on the field. The guy just doesn’t have a brain for the structures of AFL footy!

Short story, but that’s why Dangerfield took a little while to move into the midfield. Early days he struggled to pick it up. Freeman just has no clue.

What do you have left then? Is healthy meniscus important or like an appendix which can be tossed aside without repercussions?
Both mine were tossed aside 40 years ago and I'm suffering now. You also lose your some of your pace and require constant icing if you're still playing.

It's quiet funny really the anticipation with the draft.....many years ago I couldn't give a shit about it and was more into the trade period but nowadays and esp today I'm actually quite excited about it......faaark it's gunna be a long day :drunk:

Same here. I think just because we actually have a good pick this year, more than anything. That and this year the top ten is so uncertain. Even the top 5 is somewhat uncertain.

Last year in the day of/day before phantoms, pretty much everyone had the exact same 1-7 which is exactly how it panned out. Where's the fun in that?

Yeah it has been a bit hard in previous years to get as excited considering we'd given away our first round picks but like you say having such a higher pick, obviously increases the chances of drafting a star and 200+ game player for the club.....and the unknown of it all makes it so much more exciting.

I've actually changed my mind a little bit to today in who I think we will take....if Stephenson has been given the all clear I reckon we will take him.

Not too mention.. seems like an idiot show boat off it.

I am keen on Fogarty but will by no means be upset if we picked Stephenson instead. Both look like they could be absolute stars with high ceilings.

Seems well spoken and confident. Watching his highlights he likes to back himself in the clearances like Dusty.
Adam Cerra just looks like he oozes class like pendles and makes it all look in slow motion

He says 'sorta' a lot.. the Greek version is 'you know what I mean re'.

We're all the same re.. same shit.. different smell re.

It’s a complex discussion.

Firstly, without a meniscus, you are essentially guaranteed to develop osteoarthritis and eventually need a knee replacement.

Secondly, there is scant evidence that a knee arthroscope does anything of value. Having said that; professional sportspeople have come to expect one if they have knee issues, and most orthopaedic surgeons are happy to perform them in this population if there is some indication it might help.

Thirdly, not all meniscal tears are created equal. Small tears are fairly inconsequential. Longer tears in the substance of the meniscus also generally do not warrant intervention but may cause ongoing pain. Where I personally think a knee scope is warranted is what is called a “bucket handle tear” where a ring of meniscus can lift off in a flap, and potentially cause catching or locking of the knee through range. I feel this can be improved by trimming the meniscus, with the aim of preserving as much tissue as possible.

Gone Critical will likely have a more informed opinion than I. Hopefully Fogarty’s was minor although it does appear to have hampered him in 2017. If it has been scoped, it may well improve and recurrence is not a major issue for us in picking him, so much as it will be for him in his 40’s.

Joel Selwood went lower than expected due to concerns re his knee post an ACL. Talk was it would become degenerative over time. How did that work out? Its a bit of a lottery.

Did Selwood have an ACL reco? I don’t recall that. My recollection was that teams were concerned his knee was “degenerative”, so an ACL would make some sense.

However, a knee injury occurred only six rounds into the competition forcing him to undergo surgery—his fourth knee operation within two years—prematurely ending his season

I am pretty sure it was a reco but 4 ops would have raised issues.

Certainly, but I’ve never heard ACL with him until now.

One that has barely been discussed here is LDU. Don't know much about him as he's always been one of those untouchable top couple of picks.

Is he like Rayner and basically guaranteed not to slide as far as 5 or 6?

Thank God for the cricket.
