This is the Game Day thread. Clearly the OP standards have dropped since last year, and even since the last round.

But some of us love to see the red prefix pop up early on the day. Its a pre-match ritual.

I wont pretend to include any analysis or a carefully considered and balanced preview of the game. I am incapable of it.

But I will say this:

Mods, for the love of God if someone posts a 'real' Game Day thread then please merge this into it.

Thoughts:

  • Its a universally accepted truth that the Eagles are undermanned, underdone, underprepared, and every other kind of 'under'. But we shouldn't underestimate them.
  • NicNat is starting to look like the heavy lumbering ruckmen of the 1960s, carrying a few extra kilos. But he and Grundy typically put on a show. Let's see what happens today, in amongst the 436 posts complaining about Grundy's contract.
  • Maynard owes us. Two games suspended and a less than stellar return last week.
  • N Daicos doesn't owe us. We love him, he loves us, and we all fall down in admiration and gratitude.
  • Ginni. He's our showman, he's our pain in the arse, and we wouldn't mind if he kicked a few today.
  • AJ is the emergency. Those of us going to Preston for the VFL will report back on who's not playing and has been held over for the senior game.
  • Welcome back to Wilson.
  • Shout out to 'Fumbles' Henry: dont listen to the trolls mate, you will be a superstar.

Big game, vitally important to keep the season win loss ratio ticking....Looking forward to CFC's intent, hopefully all guns blazing.

I hope C Brown plays predominantly mid.

Will be interesting to watch Madge, he was pantsed by Geelong and in the media during the week too.

Wilson is an interesting watch, superb footballer, only knock his wheels, hopefully he can find his niche forward of centre.

Feeling emotionally fragile, a trip to Docklands would tip me into despair.

But the team will have and display more resilience than me. Elliott with 4. Cal with another 4.

Will be the first game I've attended in a while, where do we recommend for parking today with the GP on n whatnot? Cheers campaigners.

Try not to park on the track, anywhere else should be alright.

You're a centrist nowadays? Hmmm.

Another 4 what? Goals? Hahaha! Comedy gold!

Cal kicked 3 goals over 15 games in 2021 playing mostly as a forward. Yep, 3. Good thing he made up for his minimal scoreboard impact with his excellent…. um…. ahh…. help me out here…. um…. his excellent…. enthusiasm?

As a midfielder today, handballs and tackles are all we want to see from Cal, not outrageously difficult things like trying to kick the ball or mark it. No good can come from that. Play to your strengths Lad and leave the flashy stuff to others!

Go Pies!

Glad to see C. Brown get another chance. Played well over the last two weeks in the reserves and if we play him as an inside mid, I think he'll do well.

Losing JDG and Adams hurts, but hopefully we cover it.

I just hope we keep replicating the intensity we've produced in the three weeks. No excuse not to be winning this considering the current circumstances at the Eagles.

$30 gets you a carpark at the ground.

That is what I am doing.

I know it's been this way for a while, but I would never in a million years pay $30 for a few hours of parking. And yeah I understand that it's a necessity more so than a privilege for people too.

I'm only commenting because I was just having a discussion the other day with someone about parking at the Royal Children's Hospital. It is ludicrous that is not free or at least generously subsidised or some mechanism in place to make it easier on families. I think most people are happy to pay a few gold coins for parking, and I understand making it prohibitively expensive can be a positive as it forces people to use PT, but **** $30.

Best to go to a train station, park for free, then catch the train to Southern Cross station.

Nothing unusual in this there have always been rip off merchants in the CBD car park game.

I managed a couple of CBD car parks in the early '80's for an American firm who charged almost as much then (40 years ago).

The authority is the MCC and they have always been easily bought.
