Really happy with the backline. Gardner, Keith, Williams, Daniel amazing .

Midfield did well. Macrae and smith outstanding. Although the delivery inside 50. Same old story..

Forwards other than Vandermeer just a pass. Didn't make Moore accountable enough.. Bruce and Naughton were average

Thought Hunter was ordinary. Would have rather had West ahead of him by a mile

Hope we can smash west coast next week..

Gardner was quite good, still worries me that the bloke has literally no awareness on a footy field. Could be 4 dogs plays taking an uncontested mark and he thinks he’s a chance of getting to the ball he’ll try and kill it. Cost us once tonight. But his athleticism and endeavour is hard to teach. He was very serviceable, still a weak link tho.. I remain on the fence

Wallis could do better but he looks more capable than Scott or McNeil at the minute.
JJ needs to come into the team - where I don't know - but he is ahead of enough to be in.
The Fox Sports team reporting that Wood played well in the Reserves and should be in the side next week.
JUH apparently starred and kicked 5 goals.

That’s exactly what you want your defenders doing.
No defender in their right mind should let an aerial contest go if they can get the spoil in.

Ok he may not be a star in any regard to the word, but, if he does his job week in and week out like tonight and we win a premiership he has done his job.

Moore was unbelievable for the pies - best defender in the game for me. Love Vandermeer’s aggression and willingness to break tackles and run. It was a nearly night for Naughton but he will have days where he marks all those he dropped tonight. Hunter was just really disappointing; his kicking was woeful. Backline held up well - Keith and Daniel were outstanding and Gardiner was very good. Smith was immense, but Bontempelli had only an ok game, as did Trelour. Our forward line craft has improved very little which is just so frustrating.

Starting two debutants in a huge first game of the year? Perfectly sane and fine.

Starting a 2020 #1 pick, a 2019 #13 pick, a current best 22 player and a gun VFL small forward? Totally insane and inept. We're much better off continuing to play midfielder and defenders up forward, because its worked to well for us over the last 5 years...
