It turns out, we in fact could not keep getting away with giving teams big leads early.

Some poor shots at goal cost us through the middle of the game.

Really though, considering the absolute bath that Gulden, Warner and Heeney found themselves in to claw it back to the last kick isn't so bad.

And if he had of kicked the point for the draw, would the players feel any different tomorrow morning? Maybe Logan would sleep better but that's it

Loss had to come eventually, never had the feel of us dominating the game but they did well to work hard back into the contest.

Might highlight the short kick game together with pressure can stop the Swans (Just). Disappointing to show our hand in that respect but that's the challenge every week when teams are trying to figure you out and topple you.

McLean's best game, Lizards second half and nice contribution from Jmac, Rowbottom and Hayward.

Fox the better sub choice in hindsight, hard luck for Cunningham and not great to see Grundy, Heeney, Papley all have in game niggles. Ugly days can get uglier sometimes.

Was one of those games and Freo continue to cause us issues at the SCG.

We got a few ok calls late but a few calls to Freo in the third were deflating especially not pinning Fyfe for holding the ball and the down field against Adams.

And Riewoldt you absolute goose just cut the crap like you're having beers with your mates during the call.

Eventually have to drop a game

How we bounce back is the question, another go next week

Didn’t “have to”. Teams have gone the entire seasons losing just one game. It probably wasn’t realistic, but I was hoping that would be us this season.

Ah well, we’re not quite that good, but we should still finish first. I guess it would be a decent consolation prize. Not sure we’ll win the GF. There are strange deficiencies in our game.

Wicks did nothing. Parker in when available.

Mills for Cleary

Fox for Campbell.

Campbell played well today, Wicks kicked 2 goals.

Our poor players were our stars.

Instead of Logan, who generally is a decent kick, perhaps more needs to be said about Taylor Adams... he's absolutely putrid by foot, and blows a number of scoring chances a game.

I was perplexed when they said we were trading for him, and he hasn't changed my mind. A waste of salary cap!

Think that’s too harsh.

But is he better than Mills? No
Better than Parker? Unlikely
Better than Sheldrick? Jury out
Better than Cleary? Maybe not

Spot on, McLean was good early but got caught playing from behind half a dozen times in the last

Yeah bit of that, bit of poor kicking, he wants it higher to out work his opponent I guess, but also cant be at the back

All the Big Heads with Big Reputations got a wake up call today. We were shite for 2.5 quarters. A pressure rating of 150 or under & no real commitment. Too many broken tackles. Too many poor efforts. No forward pressure. No mids getting back to help the defence. Too many loose players because some players refused to pick up their opponents.

In the 1.5 quarters we played. We were very good. But we need that sort of effort over 4 quarters. I am going to single out Adams for some very poor disposal & two bad brain fades that gave 50s. The last 50 was bullshit. Chad Warner seemed as though he was playing for Freo for most of the first half. No effort & when he did get it he just gave it back or got caught by using very little effort. I was astounded to see him trotting around in the second when Rowie was frantically trying to tackle everyone & Warner's man had the ball he didn't even try to get to him or before hd got the ball, follow him. It was an astoundingly terrible effort. No effort in fact. I wonder where he will play his footy in the coming years?

Also, if we're complaining about WA boys, Warner needs to learn how to play second fiddle. If the opponent doest let him run he try's, backs up, and then try's to kick a stupid kick that never really works out.

I get that he's given the licence, but just needs more IQ.
That back step he takes immediately puts him on the wrong foot.

Don't blame Logan for that miss.
14 others missed easier shots.

A few players can now be dropped for those waiting in the wings.
For starters, get Fox & Roberts back in.
Adams can start feeling Parker breathing down his neck.
This won't hurt us at all.

Exactly what we needed.

I don’t blame him for missing, but he had to make sure to get a behind at least. He’s our key forward. That was a pathetic kick. He deserves to be blamed for it.

Some of the comments around Taylor are complete rubbish, he is in the packs getting the ball out, pretty standard efficiency. The missed goal aside he was good today

We are every bit as good as our ladder suggests its a reminder you cant coast at a pressure rating of 150 for a large majority of the game and kick behind after behind.

Reality check? wild what reality check exactly? we are 7-1 against top 8 sides.
Sorry but it was. There were players just not putting in early and relying on the rest of the team to do it for them. Tactics were rubbish , blind handballs and taps forward were picked off every time. We needed to be reminded . They will be a different side next week as a result.

We will be the best team in the comp when we win the flag and no sooner.
