Darren Cahill stepping down as coach of Simona Halep for family reasons. Very surprising. They were an excellent team. He said being away 30 weeks of the year from his family was taking it's toll.

I hope he has time for us to engage him.

Jack Watts has already asked him round for a swim. Told him to bring his tennis racquet which is weird.

Watts is demanding an explanation on why Simona had a breast reduction.

Wish I knew anything about him to form an opinion. Someone that is his height and position is a need for us though.
Allison was a flanker/winger in his draft year but I also seem to recall him being around 190-92cm. Very quick and a thumping kick. He was probably drafted more on attributes than output so it’s a red flag for me that he has been cut so early.

Probably not a bad call. What sort of role could we make available for him?

You shouldn't have to have played top level footy to be a good coach.

Development coach?

Passing notes from his dad to Ken.

Ryan Bustanut has been delisted by Brisbane too- no interest in him as a player, I just like the name.

Isn't he based in the US? Las Vegas? so 30 weeks of travelling might be travelling around the rest of US and world not travelling away from Adelaide. Can't be an ESPN commentator based in Adelaide.

DeLuca was rated best mature aged State League prospect in the nation a month or so back by some media or data mob, not sure who.

But being delisted and re-rookied twice by Freo makes me think he is elite at State League level but can't translate that to AFL.

As an aside, he was involved in a racial discrimination act this year - called an indigenous player an "Asian ****". Not sure whether the suspension was for the word "Asian" or the "****"? If for the former, it would appear he was mistaken - a bit like me calling a white, Anglo Saxon Aussie guy a Brazilian w***er or an English ****wit. Whatever! Apparently conciliation between the two saw DeLuca genuinely surprised and remorseful when it was pointed out what he said was racist, but the WAFL rules on this mean an automatic 3 game ban if referred to the tribunal, which it was. The player, a Keifer Yu, was disappointed that it came to that, admitting DeLuca was genuine in his apology, and Yu didn't want to appear to be a dobber, and thought the rules were too inflexible and made someone in his position have to be judge, jury and executioner. No win for both players really. Yu's dad is an indigenous spokesperson of some stature, so maybe a bit of pressure brought to bear on the lad. Guess we'll never know.

Notwithstanding all of that, I would say unlikely we would select him even as a rookie, despite Schoey's recommendations. Think there may be better quality players around.

Prior, the chief executive of Pro Scout International, identified Deluca as the pick of the mature State league talent around the country.

The 22-year-old starred for unbeaten Subiaco this year after three seasons at Fremantle, where he played four matches for the Dockers and won two flags with Peel.

“Anyone who plays well in a premiership team, and he has played in four of them, carries significant weight for recruiters,” Prior said. “And the fact that he has done it at Subiaco and Peel in two completely different systems tells you that he is highly adaptable.”

Prior said Deluca, Bolton and South Fremantle’s Haiden Schloithe were the pick of the previously AFL-listed players in the WAFL this year.

How common are mature age state league players having multiple chances and making it?

Not very common, Josh Mahoney went OK, dropped from Collingwood and Dogs, spent time in VFL and was a good player in a Premiership side.
