If Smith is there at 6 i'd call that would be a huge win. Max King probably best available. I think Rozee would be best fit for our side though.

10 I want Hately. I'll be shattered if we don't pick him if he's available. If he's not there then Caldwell is the best fit.

15 I want Williams. If he's gone then an outside type in either Hill, Stack or Butters.

I think realistically Rozee, Hately, Williams would be a good draft crop

Reckon Crows will pick either Rozee or Hately if they stay at pick 8.

That is why we should upgrade 6 + 15- we don’t need Williams. Better off with Rankine and Hately than Rozee Hately and Williams.

What’s the appeal of Hately?

What’s the appeal of Hately?

Natural ball winner who can play straight away, can play multiple roles from pure inside mid, more outside leaning and can play as a marking forward who kicks goals.

At the moment our main inside ball winners are 28+ outside of Wines. I prefer SPP in more of an outside role. I'd like us to leave Robbie up forward with Wingard leaving. Question marks over Atley. Hately is likely best available at that pick and whilst he's not an out and out need, he'd be the type that could come in and play every game.

Why don't we need Williams? We have one key forward on our list under 27. Watts is inconsistent. Dixon has had 2 shit years out of 3. We need more talls.

Mayes is a guy that likes to play as a loose number in the backline so i'm pretty opposed to getting him. Maybe we are concerned about Broady and dont know how Hartlett will recover so maybe we think getting an experienced flanker back there would be beneficial. Do we need to attract these sorts of vanilla borderline AFL standard guys to the club? We shouldnt be imo.

I think Farrell has a lot of talent and should be starting 22 from round 1 next year. He might be the Wingard replacement in terms of forward output next year. I think Patmore and Garner should be starting to push for selection next year. Patmore had a good year and played a number of different roles. He can be a loose ball magnet or he can play forward or on a wing as well. Garner looks more of a back flanker at this point and hopefully he can stay fit and start to push for selection next year.

If we get 6, 10 and 15 I would hold. I am absolutely against us trading anything else to go further up the draft. Keep what we've got, hopefully get a pick in the 40s for Hombsch and leave it at that. As I said late last week and on the weekend, I don't think our list make up is good enough to do what we've done in trading out of this draft just for the chance to get 1 top end talent.
We might get another pick 40 for Amon .

If we get a pick in the 40s for Amon when every other (more talented, better output) fringe player is going for picks in the 60s then its the biggest draft steal of the year

We've got enough tall forward options.

AFL: Ryder, Dixon, Watts, Hoff.
SANFL: Marshall, Frampton, Ladhams.

Look at the backline, that should be fixed first.

AFL: Jonas, Howard, Clurey, Lienert.
SANFL: Hombsch, McKenzie (both might not even be here, so we need 3 KPDs).

In that case we should pick Ben King at 6.

We don't have enough tall forward options. Hoff is 31, Ryder not far behind. Dixon and Watts are 27. Marshall has talent. Frampton and Ladhams aren't legitimate AFL options as key forwards.

Plug the defence up first. Then if any of Ryder, Frampton, Ladhams are off the list at the end of next season, go for forwards in next years draft/trade period.

I really value having a well balanced side at both levels, if we have 0-1 tall forwards and tall defenders in the SANFL it hurts the whole team.

If we have 4 up forward then it's too top heavy, It happened a couple of years ago with Ladhams being pushed down the the Academy because of Eddy, Trengove and Marshall.

I think Frampton has shown he has the tools to be a key forward. Ladhams I'm completely not sold on.

Gotta say that I like Williams’ highlights. He’d complement Marshall nicely going forward.

We need creative midfield and small-medium forward types though. Our midfield stocks in 2019 look Gold Coast like. We may well rely on Robbie and Boak to turn back the clock.

Smith/Rozee, Hateley and Williams would be a good haul.

Is Hombsch’s hips a lost cause? He was a really competent defender a year or 2 ago.

I wish he could get fit again and become a good asset to the backline, If a trade somehow doesn’t end up happening.

Is what we get in a packet of twisties trade better than sticking with him?.

He went ok 3 years ago. Now he seems not quick enough or tall enough really. A top bloke though.

I feel bad for Burton, he is going to get torn limb from limb from our supporters if he's not dropping B&Fs and AA's withing 24 months of his arrival.

Dudes gonna have so much pressure on him it'll be insane.

Sits forward with Marshall kicks goals.
Be very popular very quickly.

I feel like this for the top end SA kids in this draft.

Since when have we morphed into the cows and have to land “home grown” talent?

Seriously hope for their sake they go interstate and don’t have the pressure on like they will here and we end up with a couple of the Vic kids who are equally as talented.

I’m sure Ken will find a way to take the heat instead
