pretty clear that GWS and GC17 are the nesting ground for all Victorian clubs. They cherry pick whatever talent they want to get them to a their club (in Victoria of course). "geez that Victorian club is magnificent with the trading they do. Always gets their man they do'.

Ports say about getting into some SA talent that move up north....''WHOAH! Hang on there Ports - that's arrogance and disrespecting the code'

I'd like him on a wing or across half forward. Burton and Bonner on opposing wings would make me happy
Macca, it sounds like you’re bullish about us getting Burton, and would like to see him played on the wing or forward of centre.

Few related questions for you about list strategy and personnel:

1. How do you rate Patmore, Farrell and Garner a year into their careers? I was becoming quite impressed by Garner in the couple of matches before his shoulder injury, while Patmore also grew on me late in the year.

2. Assuming we end up with pick 6, 10 and 15, would you try to upgrade our picks and if not, what would be your strategy with those picks?

3. Are you keen on us getting Mayes to the club and where is his best footy likely to be played?

Cheers

Clubs do all kinds of behind the scenes stuff to attract players, yet posters on the main board are losing their minds over a harmless comment made Cripps.
They even stated on trade radio that Clarkson had been in contact with Chad since the international rules.

And Buckley had a not-so-secret personal meeting with Tom Lynch, trying to convince him to join Collingwood. Not hard to find examples of conduct worse than Cripps

A player goes from your state goes to an interstate club notorious for poor player retention and terrible on field results drafts the player your want and you try lure them back, who'd have though ?

Not much in it really. GC know if they get Luko, Rankine or Rozee Port and the Crows will come. They don't need to hear Cripps say it on trade radio.

Yeah, Cripps was just stating the bleeding obvious

Mayes is a guy that likes to play as a loose number in the backline so i'm pretty opposed to getting him. Maybe we are concerned about Broady and dont know how Hartlett will recover so maybe we think getting an experienced flanker back there would be beneficial. Do we need to attract these sorts of vanilla borderline AFL standard guys to the club? We shouldnt be imo.

I think Farrell has a lot of talent and should be starting 22 from round 1 next year. He might be the Wingard replacement in terms of forward output next year. I think Patmore and Garner should be starting to push for selection next year. Patmore had a good year and played a number of different roles. He can be a loose ball magnet or he can play forward or on a wing as well. Garner looks more of a back flanker at this point and hopefully he can stay fit and start to push for selection next year.

If we get 6, 10 and 15 I would hold. I am absolutely against us trading anything else to go further up the draft. Keep what we've got, hopefully get a pick in the 40s for Hombsch and leave it at that. As I said late last week and on the weekend, I don't think our list make up is good enough to do what we've done in trading out of this draft just for the chance to get 1 top end talent.

Effective negotiation is a skill. You do not give your adversary a reason to back away from the negotiation table unless you are calling a bluff. Gold Coast aren't in a situation that they need to bluff. Gold Coast are holding the aces. Making fun of their club can not be good in any sense of negotiation whether we are dealing with them directly or indirectly. Cripps has been very unprofessional.

Mate, listen to both Pt1 and Pt2 of the panel discussion where these quotes are pulled from.

There was nothing wrong with what he said because it was in the context of a broader discussion about how they as list managers need to think these days.

The other panelists had no issue with what he said.
He wasn't making fun of Gold Coast and they had no issue with what he said.

I agree.

Assuming Rankine and Luko are gone, who do you realistically want at these picks?

With Garner I see him playing more in the back pocket and locking down on someone and defending hard, rather than being a back flanker running out of the defence.
I agree. There was a steeliness about his last couple of games this year before getting injured. He suddenly looked like someone with AFL quality.

If Smith is there at 6 i'd call that would be a huge win. Max King probably best available. I think Rozee would be best fit for our side though.

10 I want Hately. I'll be shattered if we don't pick him if he's available. If he's not there then Caldwell is the best fit.

15 I want Williams. If he's gone then an outside type in either Hill, Stack or Butters.

I think realistically Rozee, Hately, Williams would be a good draft crop
