What's happened to D'Aloia and Szybkowksi this a year?

How are they tracking in state footy?

Any chance of them being picked up as mature aged prospects?
D'Aloia has had a very good first year at league level for the Eagles. One of the first picked in the midfield each week, especially after Hardie got recruited by Geelong in the MSD. Looks like a seasoned veteran already at SANFL level, great in close and at the bottom of the pack. Not great speed and kicking not at the top end - which would be the reasons he wasn't picked up. Still young enough to work on his power and skills and maybe one day if he dominates at SANFL level he will get noticed. I doubt it will be for 2024 though.

PMBangers love your work, mate.

How do you see Archer Reid tracking? I was hoping that he might slip to our 2nd but looks like he is firming into the top 25 at this point looking at consensus rankings.

Do you see him as a ruck or a forward?

His recent run of form definitely puts him back into 15-20 contention. He's definitely a forward that can pinch hit rather than a genuine #1 ruck, but he's a fair way off size wise before he's even able to do that

Looking over both the combine lists thoughts on Fawcett and Francis from SA? looks like they are the only talls outside of Goad and McCabe who will get picked up plus Patton.
Any surprise omissions from SA?. Invite numbers are lower than previous years, harder to get invited this year or a sign of the talent coming out of there?

Rowlands, Turner (both playing SANFL u/18's) and Snell (tied to Lions academy) only lads from NT. Do clubs send scouts up there to identify any rough diamonds or they only focus on the lads playing state underage competitions?

Which is a better competition Coates Talent league or SANFL Under 18's. From watching some games IMO CTL is stronger.

Nice to see 3 from the VFL invited, they keep banging on that there are more entry points to get onto a list if you don't originally get drafted.

Question late 2nd round early 3rd who would the Lions target that are good kicking forwards
The one that immediately jumps to mind is Kade De La Rue, I just love a lot of what he does when playing as a high half forward, and he's one Country really looked to get delivering inside 50. Koen Sanchez is another that'd be of interest but may go a bit too early. Phoenix Gothard I really like but can see him bolting into the early 20s too

Francis I liked last year but hasn't really come up on this season due to being thrown around the ground. Hes got some good attributes but i just dont see him getting picked up. Fawcett has a bit to like and some good performances, but most likely as a rookie unless he kills the combine.

It's a sign of the depth of the draft, when there's not many national combine invitees like this year it just means there's not a lot of variation in names that clubs are liking

For the most part clubs look at the elite level junior comps

CTL is streets ahead of SANFL U18s

Great work PMB,
What would you do with Melbourne draft
JVR has come in and Jefferson is developing in the VFL
Personally I think we should target midfielders and pick up an overaged ruck to replace Grundy

I think McKercher is the dream selection for Melbourne for the midfield, but Watson and Duursms are two that I think would be in consideration as well, both high impact players in the attacking half and Duursma has that ability to play midfield as well, so could follow a Petracca path as he develops.

As usual there's not really any AFL quality and ready rucks not already on a list, so the better option would be to trade for one. Could I interest you in Braydon Preuss?

What do you like most about McKercher abilities?

Of course, Love Preuss not sure about his fitness

Trent Rivers is a 60m player perfect for us as runs 20m and kicks 40 and tough as nails and Tom Sparrow have been so important

We still have WoewodinJnr coming through but a bigger mid who can start off half back like Rivers did would be great Rivers and Sparrow are the young guns for our midfield but need help

McKercher's just a damaging player that regularly accumulates at a high level, has a good bit of speed to him which I think will transition well to AFL Level with speed and endurance increasingly more important around the ground. He's a tad small for what you're looking for it sounds like, but it's not really a good draft for mids in general, let alone big ones. Possibly Cooper Simpson who's played a game for Casey this season would fit in the second round, or Joel Freijah in a similar range, although Freijah is outside leaning at this stage

CTL as far ahead now as it's ever been. SANFL Under 18's has dropped off in recent years, it used to be passable but it's never been strong. If you want to see a stronger competition, go and watch Sacred Heart V Rostrevor or PAC V Saints and all the various intercols. They play at a far higher level, way more fierce. I have no doubt if Sacred Heart first 18 took on for example West Under 18's at full strength, it would be a complete hiding.

Unless there's a freak like Jackson rucks really are too speculative to waste an early pick on anyway. I've got my fingers crossed for Duursma but would be happy with McKercher. If we can find a key defender with one of our other picks or trade up for one I'd be extremely happy.

If there's a game at TBO, I'm there
Wish I could watch the games on the app or better if they put it on youtube. It's weird how the AFLs coverage of NAB league has actually gone backwards over recent years :( Arie Schoenmaker was said to have another good game. Did you rate his play today?

Played pretty well without being exceptional I'd say

Hey bangers. How’s josh docking been playing? Seem to of really dropped off in the second half of the season. Didn’t get an invite to the combine

Pretty much sums it up how you put it, wasn't even going to be playing today having been named emergency

Wonder if the saints even nominate him because I’m not sure how many cat b rookies you can have on the list

It's my understanding you can't nominate players if they don't receive a combine invite
