Crouch and Acres are my picks.

Cooled down on Sheed some. Can't help but get the feeling he's maxed out. The Crouch/Acres combo is better balanced and a better fit for the list.

We probably don't take either but they're my picks with the two first round picks.

Crouch? Vanillaish panic merchant is -vanilla.

Aish
Kelly
Salem
Billings
Taylor
Lennon
Sheed
Scharenberg
Kolodjashnij
Freeman
Crouch
Bontempelli

Out of those available that would be my top 12 if there was no needs/not knowing what other clubs were keen on. Yeah it's not popular opinion, but it's from what I've seen this year.

i like the sound of lewis taylor i know hes small do we go after bigger taller mids?? but sounds a exciting prospect got power pace good skills and is hard at it wouldnt be surprised if we call his name out come draft day

If we draft Taylor I will tear (what's left of) my hair out.

Given the names available up to around 14ish, it is easier to list who you wouldn't want at the club...

I am happy we will be taking 2 of those named, although don't particularly want (in order):

McCarthy. Doesn't seem solid enough a prospect and too short for a longer term key forward. Has a bit of J Reiwoldt about him though, but would prefer a strong mid and go for a KPP in next year's draft.

Taylor. Look, the kid looks very clean off both feet, and has some zip, but I don't want to be investing in too many more short people. If we had a bigger midfield, I would be okay, but we don't.

Billings. Looks good, but it will be harder for smart small forwards at AFL level, and would need to use pick 6 on him. Would prefer to get a running midfielder.

KK. Didn't really want this kid, but his highlights showed some Lonie-like kicking skills. Down the order for me, but wouldn't be devastated if we took him with 10. Not a 6 prospect for mine.

Dream scenario would be Aish and Bontempelli, wouldn't mind Freeman in the mix there as well. Lennon okay, but highlights didn't do him as much justice as his descriptions.

I'm not sure Hine is finished just yet. He said as much last night. I still think a combination of 6,10 and shaw could see us get Adams and pick 1.

If GWS think Pick 1 is going to be Boyd and Boyd is doubling up on what they already have, and given they have pick 2, the chance to get 3 picks inside the top 10 might appeal to them. They get Shaw as well.

No issue with the 4 you don't want, just surprised for your reason on McCarthy. I'd seen him listed http://www.scpaige.com.au/draftees-in-focus-cameron-mccarthy/ as 195cm so was thinking, how's that not tall enough? Checked http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-20/cameron-mccarthy and there's he's listed as 2cm shorter and 4kg lighter.

Still Pavlich, Roughhead, Nick Riewoldt & Darling are 193 or 192 and I'd take any of them so height alone wouldn't rule McCarthy out for me. If I was ruling him out it's more that we seem to be gunning for more immediate success than we'd get from key forward who needs to add weight and has only played seriously for a year.

There is obviously love for Kelly & Aish being the two class midfielders of the crop & if either were to slide it would be hard to say no to them. Bankable talents.

The two I personally think we should be targeting is Scharenberg & Lennon. Both are excellent users of the footy, great marks & goal kickers.

They are both versatile, which is something Hine has mentioned as a feature he is looking for. I think both these guys will/can start off half back or half forward. Their skills make them great options there instantly and is an area we need filled on our list. Their skills off half back, would be a great boost for us in particular. Eventually I see them both moving into the midfield as bigger bodied mids, another area we need to boost on our list.

Bontempelli is a similar mold, taller and more rangier. There is a lot of fans of him. However, I see him as too much of a risk at 6 and even at 10. His improvement has been sharp, but he is still behind the other lads. Perhaps he will continue to improve. My main worry about him is he is more Tyson Goldsack than Scott Pendlebury. He will be a useful player, but I think he will be a too much of everything & not enough of one (if that makes sense). Depending on what is taken before our pick 10, he is a consideration.

If we do get Adams I see no need to go for Crouch, Sheed or Acres. If we don't get Adams I would change my tune & look to one of those at 10.

Freeman is something different to the rest and provides that Dangerfield style burst speed which is handy to say the least. He is a risk as well though, is he a one trick pony? However, depending on what is taken before our pick 10, he is a definite consideration.

So my selections at 6 would be Aish/Kelly if the unexpected happens & one slides. I refuse to beleive it until I see it though. In some ways I hope they don't as we really do need the talents of Scharenberg/Lennon. I think Lennon is going to be a special player so I would go for him, although some suggest he will be there at 10.

My ideal result is Aish slides and we get Lennon at 10. Realistically with no slider I would take Lennon at 6, then (assuming we have Adams) wait & see who is left out of Bontempelli/Freeman/McCarthy/Taylor. All those 4 are risks and a bit of speculation, but each with enourmous upside. Having the #6 gives some scope for a more adventurous selection at #10. I think Acres/Sheed/Crouch are more bankable talents and proabably will be available at 10, but they have less upside to them and with Adams are not really required that much.

Yeah, fair enough. If 195, I have no real issue - it is just when our KPP are starting to get to much below that it becomes an issue.

On the comment around immediate success - I hope that isn't really a criteria that our recruiters are using. you typically don't draft for someone who can come straight into the team, you draft for their potential across their whole career (unless it is late picks). If they pass up on someone who may have a big upside, but may take some time to get there, I would be disappointed. Especially at KF when we have just brought in White, to accompany ready-made options in Cloke, Lynch, Reid, (Keeffe) who can certainly tie us over for a while.

I also would steer clear of picking someone because they have only just started playing, in the expectation that their improvement curve is similar to others with little experience. Sometimes kids just get up to a certain speed quicker, but can still then bottom out (see Marty Clarke... Hasn't improved since his first year). I wouldn't want our recruiters to put too much of a premium on their potential based on how far back they may be seeming to start from, as it is always far far riskier...

Using the time-honoured method of watching 3-min highlight videos, I've revised my selections.

Scharenberg and Salem for me, please.

Not a fan of lennon?

His highlights showed he is the best kick in the draft and to top it off very good contested ball winner in 1v1s also has very good pace burnt off a heap of players.

I still hope Sheed is one of the players but I think he is WC bound.

Agree, my feeling was probably more around a combination of adding immediate depth but also plenty of upside. See Acres & Bontempelli and maybe Lennon as fitting this best. My comment also partly driven by not spending a top 10 on KPF this year if next year's is deeper.

I'm for Acres, Crouch, Bontempelli maybe Aish or Billings if they slip. As some have pointed out, Aish has a bit of Xavier Ellis/Tom Scully in the build. I think he could go either way - gun or fringe mid.

As an added bonus, Acres and Crouch will give Commetti ample material for his cheesy punning games. I can feel him feverishly at work already:

"Acres out in space ... or is it 'hectares'?"

"Crouch, ready to spring."

Come on, you all know it's coming.

Would Commetti also like Lewis Taylor so we can have Taylor to Adams?

If we draft Kolodjashnij I hope BT yells: "BANG GOES THE KOLODSNAKOVVVVVVVVV, GOAL TO THE PIES!!"

Or if Acres gets hit in the nads, "Well, he's definitely got a couple of ache'rs now."

Can those of you from about my vintage imagine Jack Dyer attempting some of these names? Remember how he used to pronounce Dipierdomenico or even Brereton?'

A draft strategy: A bit of projection of probably picks based on current order.

1. GWS - Boyd

2. GWS - Aish/Kelly rumblings are they love Kelly, but either or would do.

3. St K - Aish/Kelly they have to add a quality mid to start replacing their DalS, Hayes, Goddard etc.

4. WB - Billings/Scharenburg/Lennon/Kolo Harder to guess, but each would add something they need. I would be betting on Billings or Scharenburg.

5. GC - Kolo Perfect fit for the Suns who announced they were after quality running half back, they didnt chase one in free agancy or trades cos I think they know this guy is the goods.

6. Coll - Billings/Scharenburg/Lennon We will take one of the two the Dogs didn't.

7. Bris - Billings/Scharenburg/Lennon/McCarthy Brisbane may mop up the scraps here or pull a surprise to get a key forward on their list. Hard to say which way they will jump, I would be quite pleased if they pulled the trigger on McCarthy as it gets one more of Billings/Scharenburg/Lennon closer to our pick 10.

8. Nth - McDonald FS

9. Melbourne - ?????????? This is hard to predict. They are flush with forwards & young mids. Given their recruiting record it could be anyone. Will they play safe or go outside the square.

10. Coll - Wide open at this point. Our pick 10 will depend largely on the way Bris & Melb pick. There is an outside chance of a Scharenburg/Billings/Lennon type still available, but I think probably not. So we would then be looking towards a long list starting with Bontempelli, McCarthy, Crouch, Freeman, Sheed/Taylor

The WB pick will shape our pick 6. However the big keys are Bris & Melb intentions. You can't help but think that Hine has jumped the order to pick off a player that Melb &/or Bris have their sights on.

Brisbane I think should be picking McCarthy on a needs basis, but the loss of Polec means their mids are thinnish again and a Freeman/Crouch/Sheed could be handy for them.

The Dees do not need more young inexperienced mids or a player like McCarthy. I can't help thinking they will look for something a little different. Scharenburg off half back would be great for them, Bontempelli gives them some variety and Taylor would be lethal amongst their tall forwards. All of those would be nice picks for them.

I love you dreamers.....
