This would be insane...

#1 GWS - Tom Boyd
#2 GWS - Josh Kelly
#3 St Kilda - Jack Billings
#4 Western Bulldogs - Matt Scharenberg
#5 Gold Coast - Kade Kolodjashnij
#6 Collingwood - James Aish
#7 Brisbane - Ben Lennon
#8 North Melbourne - Luke McDonald F/S
#9 Melbourne - Nathan Freeman
#10 Collingwood - Marcus Bontempelli

Our only threats would be Gold Coast taking Aish and Brisbane taking Bontempelli.

A draft strategy: A bit of projection of probably picks based on current order.

1. GWS - Boyd

2. GWS - Aish/Kelly rumblings are they love Kelly, but either or would do.

3. St K - Aish/Kelly they have to add a quality mid to start replacing their DalS, Hayes, Goddard etc.

4. WB - Billings/Scharenburg/Lennon/Kolo Harder to guess, but each would add something they need. I would be betting on Billings or Scharenburg.

5. GC - Kolo Perfect fit for the Suns who announced they were after quality running half back, they didnt chase one in free agancy or trades cos I think they know this guy is the goods.

6. Coll - Billings/Scharenburg/Lennon We will take one of the two the Dogs didn't.

7. Bris - Billings/Scharenburg/Lennon/McCarthy Brisbane may mop up the scraps here or pull a surprise to get a key forward on their list. Hard to say which way they will jump, I would be quite pleased if they pulled the trigger on McCarthy as it gets one more of Billings/Scharenburg/Lennon closer to our pick 10.

8. Nth - McDonald FS

9. Melbourne - ?????????? This is hard to predict. They are flush with forwards & young mids. Given their recruiting record it could be anyone. Will they play safe or go outside the square.

10. Coll - Wide open at this point. Our pick 10 will depend largely on the way Bris & Melb pick. There is an outside chance of a Scharenburg/Billings/Lennon type still available, but I think probably not. So we would then be looking towards a long list starting with Bontempelli, McCarthy, Crouch, Freeman, Sheed/Taylor

The WB pick will shape our pick 6. However the big keys are Bris & Melb intentions. You can't help but think that Hine has jumped the order to pick off a player that Melb &/or Bris have their sights on.

Brisbane I think should be picking McCarthy on a needs basis, but the loss of Polec means their mids are thinnish again and a Freeman/Crouch/Sheed could be handy for them.

The Dees do not need more young inexperienced mids or a player like McCarthy. I can't help thinking they will look for something a little different. Scharenburg off half back would be great for them, Bontempelli gives them some variety and Taylor would be lethal amongst their tall forwards. All of those would be nice picks for them.

That's some nice work Didak. I probably differ slightly on who I think might be our best/priority selections. As mentioned elsewhere, am starting to go a little weak at the knees for Acres and Bontempelli. If Aish or Billings are available at 6 it will present Derek with an interesting conundrum as he might have to weigh them against who was 'expected' there but no doubt all this will have been carefully considered ahead of the draft. No doubt he will baffle us all again with something not expected.

I can't help wondering whether our picks will be influenced by needs or be pure best available.

We will NOT pass up on Scharenberg if he is still there at 6. Bank on it! Bookmark it! Only Boyd or Kelly still being avail at 6 would stop us from taking Scharenberg at 6. Neither will happen.

Scharenberg is exactly what we need. Hine won't pass him by if he is still there at 6

Just my opinion, be happy to be laughed at come draft night but I would be gobbsmacked if he still there and hine doesn't pick him. Just won't happen!

I agree. Scharenburg ticks a lot of boxes. I think the Dogs will go for him or Billings. Which will leave us a choice of Billings/Lennon or Scharenburg/Lennon. I think we go Scharenburg over Lennon as there is a chance we scoop Lennon anyway at 10, while no chance of this with Scharenburg. I am not sure on Billings and find it hard to pick him instead of Lennon.

GC could still take Scharenburg as well instead of Kolo, which would throw another combination out there.

At the end of the day I think we would be happy with any of those names tossed about at 6.

Have you grown sick of loving yourself?

Hine was not denying any further dealings with our current picks. In fact he was quite coy in the subject.

He wasn't denying it but it sounded to me like he thought it would be pretty unlikely that pick 1 or 2 would be the table. But I'd love to be wrong, although at the same time, GWS would probably ask for something insane for pick 1. Like pendles + 6 + our altitude room + our dignity

I don't know about that. They have pick 2. They probably don't need another power forward. If they can get two picks after pick 2, still in the top ten, it all depends how they view the talent in the top ten. There is a bit of the same in all the picks after Boyd. Pretty much all midfielders and pretty much all the same standard. So if they feel by offering up pick one and can get 3 mids all of the same standard, they may feel it's worthwhile. Not to mention they get Shaw and give up a player that was wanting out anyway.

I'm sure it's been thought of.

I think anything is possible at pick 10 and wouldn't be overly surprised by anyone there. There seems to be quite a few worth making an argument for Bontempelli & Acres included.

The way its shaping up at 6 we will get a very good player whether it be Billings/Aish/Scharenburg/Kolo/Lennon. Not sure whuch way Hine would be leaning, but I don't think he will go outside that lot at #6.

The other factor could be if he knows which way Brisbane & Melbourne are leaning. If for example he likes Lennon & Billings but knows Brisbane is going McCarthy & Melbourne are desperate for Lennon he may pick Lennon in the hope Billings falls through to 10.

1. Boyd
2. Kelly
3. Scharenberg (Saints need class down back, this guy has it all)
4. Billings (class player Dogs will look to add to their forwardline from as soon as next year).
5. KK (as mentioned, GC will be looking for a HB. If Scharenberg is gone, this is realistic).
6. Aish (would be lucky if he gets here. Also a threat to go to Dogs at 4).
7. McCarthy (praying Bris take this option. They need a young key forward desperately, he is the next best).
8. McDonald (done deal).
9. Freeman (whisper is that Roos rates this kid. Let's hope so).
10. Bontemp. (couldn't happen, could it? I hope so...)

I'm always interested in these lists and how many of the kids the author has actually seen
How may of these kids have you seen play?
If its none as it is with many posters (not saying it is with you), how did you arrive at the rankings?

That rules out the Blewboys.

Pretty sure Boyd will go at pick 1 so any 1 of Kelly, Aish, Scharenberg, KK would be good gets at 6.

Would like to see the club grab something a bit different at 10, particularly if the club gets the Adams trade done, as that would equate to 2 additional mids in the squad on top of Kennedy and Broomhead last year (KK probably more HB/wing).

McCarthy or Acres would be good pickups at 10. Even Bontempelli. Wouldn't discount another mid though, possibly Lennon.

Just watched Sheeds video.
He's so good, reminds me of Judd. His guy should be top 4.
The berg and Sheed are the best players in the draft that I can see.

The best way to judge who should be in the top 4 players is to watch a 3 minute highlight video.

Or so I hear.

Wouldn't be surprised if sheed got through to WCE at 11, they seem to be planning on it.

Isn't that all what anyone here is judging their decision on? Obviously you're a tac cup expert of some sort..

If scharenberg is still there at six I'd have no doubt we would take him. He looks like a mature man and captain material already. His poise and kicking is just extraordinary.

Could not agree stronger. Love him.

99% sure we'll get Taylor Adams, so there is our premium inside ball winner for the next 10 years. With Beams, Pendlebury and JT all more contested players I think we need to target some outside run. I'd be over the moon with Aish/KK/Kelly at pick 6, all can run and can fulfil the outside role we need. Even Bontempelli can be groomed into a similar role, hopefully we can land him at 10.

That's good positioning by you, talk up a player unlikely to be at our pick so you never have to praise him as a Pie and get full rein to call our pick 6 a spud.

I predict that one of those 20+ predictions will be correct. ;)
