Reading this thread is pretty sad. You are all crying over this?

Htfu! Who cares really.
Put that in next years membership campaign.

"We are Port Power. Who cares?"

That press conference was straight up awkward, Jonas and wines looked scared shitless and Hinkley wanted to yell at the supporters for 5 mins if he could.

The tension in the room was incredible
Reminded me of the period where Hinkley was trying to justify not playing a ruckman when Ryder went down and defending his game plan and blaming the players for not executing the game plan properly.

Good luck to the boys, but I'm sure if Tom had been made the sole captain, and Ollie his deputy, the playing group would have been just fine.

I strongly doubt having co-captains will improve our performance in any discernible way.

It reminds me of the joke about the 2 snails..

Two snails were having a chat.
One snail said to the other, ‘I tried taking my shell off to see if it would make me go faster.’
The other snail asked, ‘Did it work? Can you go faster?’
To which the first snail replied, ‘Nah, I’m still a bit sluggish’.

Even if we do improve slightly, has it been worth all the pain and angst the club has put itself through?

It will make no difference, all it has done is alienated a lot of extremely loyal lifelong passionate supporters.
You can also use the snail analogy with the speed of our midfield.

‘Honour’ referred to their present situation of being appointed co-captains, the clue was the new paragraph. Being appointed co-captain of the PAFC is an honour, but perhaps you disagree. The number 1 guernsey is reserved for the captain of the club, neither of those guys are that yet, so neither deserve to wear that number. It’s not a difficult concept to grasp.

Right. I see what you're saying. I am of the view that one of then is not good enough to be a captain or co captain.

The tradition of our captain wearing the number one.

We currently have two captains. Two people cannot wear one number.
Look I dont agree with it either, but the reason I asked is because the tradition of our captain wearing No 1 has been broken before. For ten years from 1958 to 1968 Motley and Cahill wore their own numbers & the Captain's No 1 was parked.

I dont know how much fuss was made about this "broken tradition" back then, as I only became a supporter/member back in 1973. But the hysteria this time around is bordering on cacophonic! In 1968, Port returned to the No 1 jumper tradition, and I would happily stake my house on this occurring again at some point, with Ollie Wines becoming sole captain in the next few years.

The issues surrounding a] the manner in which this was handled, and b] the lack of solid reasons given, are of much greater concern IMO. The good thing is that the 3 K's have painted themselves into a corner, which will determine the future of their careers at Port. March into the grand final this year, and the baying mob will be somewhat appeased. Another failed year ... and they MUST all go!

ITMT, we really have to curb the disappointment we feel toward the administration, and back the 3 leaders & players who will bleed for the club this year.

Outside forces have tried and failed to "tear us apart." Lets not do it for them.

Why not try it for a year? We can always go back to how it was.

Im sure there are plenty of benefits for having two, thats why teams like Sydney do it.. People need to calm down. Its not 1975 anymore the captains role is far more involved than it was back in the day, the game is different.

Share the load, concentrate on footy. It may also help with the changes to the runners this year (only allowed being sent out after goals etc.)

I agree, though I won’t be curbing my disappointment. This decision is symbolic of a number of other issues that I have regarding the way the club is run, and I think it’s time I started speaking up about them.

I bare Ollie and Tom no ill will either, both are capable leaders and will make great captains, but I fundamentally disagree with the decision to have co-captains and unless the club can provide statistical evidence to support their decision I will not be giving Ken Keith or Koch any leniency.

If it’s such a good thing for the team, win the flag. Anything less and they can all go.

I also appreciate that people on the other side of the argument have their reasons for supporting this decision, and that doesn’t make them less of a supporter than I am. I’m just not willing to support an administration that have won 3 finals in their nearly decade long tenure any more.

I don’t have a problem at all with the idea that both Tom and Ollie are our best candidates, not perfect candidates, and that Hamish is clearly #3.

I take REH’s and Chigwi’s point about the seeming failure of process our administration has taken on this decision. The same dragged out forever BS as with the Wingard trade that exacerbated already polarised supporter opinions.

In the past, “dirty laundry” and necessary but hard nosed knifings like moving on legends Fos & Russell as coaches were conducted behind closed doors and concluded “as quickly as possible”. That little bit of tidy and intelligent ruthlessness seems to be absent from Koch’s method. I’m speculating here but I’m not sure if KT isn’t the meat in the sandwich between the board and Ken.

KT is indeed the meat - white meat as he won’t eat red meat - in the sandwich between Koch and the senior coach. Don’t include the PAFC board in anything decisive. They are just furniture. Except for Cardone who is a hat rack and performs the essential task of carrying Koch’s Chairman Moi beige coat as well as a conflict of interest that will soon become a focus of discontent.

Jonas liking Twitter posts about ignoring the negativity and THREE GREAT BLOKES. "External noise"

So now the disgruntled members are 'external noise'

We sure are at a low point.
