Check out the rookie upgrade thread on him.

Do you think Phil Walsh is sms'ing team selections thru to Primus already? :p

I think it might be something much more simple like "Now listen here, Cripps, Laidley and Rhode. It's my ****ing head on the chopping block each week, i have to front the media after each shellacking, now GTFO and let me pick the ****ing team i want to pick!"

Perhaps Matty has finally grown some selection table balls.

Good to see a few chopped. I love Ebert, but if he wants to play on with us he has to build a tank and play mid - he has had a couple of really good quarters this year but goes missing to much. Brett has said himself at times that he needs a bigger tank to play AFL mid, well it's up to him to develop it!!

Sometimes we fans forget that players are really just human beings and even though we want them too, they just are not machines that we can tweak and oil and get huge outputs from them instantly.
Brett had major surgery to his knee during the off season and did not do much of the pre-season, if any at all and has had other health issues during the year.
He should have been allowed to play at the Maggies all year as should Rodan have played in the SANFL all year - they are just not right to play at the highest level and should not have been chosen to do so.
I reckon that Butcher isn't ready to play neither but at the stage we're at, he's a young fella, as is Jonas and it's good to give 'em a taste. I really hope though that some on these boards, don't brand them as being no good on the evidence of one or two games.

Seriously, you still think Ebert should get more chances? After nine years on the list as a small forward?

Not really, but its up to him to prove otherwise. I think a similar situation to what happened with Kingsley might be worth a shot though - delist him and let him do preseason. See if he works his butt off and if he can improve his endurance and meet other KPI's then perhaps redraft him in PSD.

Hey guys,

Looking forward to seeing how your debutants go this weekend. It's always nice to see some new players get a gig in the big time so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the 2 new guys and hoping they have an impact. Really interested in seeing Butcher play, think he may line up on Schoenmakers so should be a great duel.

Expecting a tight contest, you guys generally line up well against us, plus I'm sure your boys will be keen to come out firing after last weeks game.

All the best for the game guys, hoping for a good contest :)

If Jonas had played all year he would be high in our BnF...

If you or I had played all year we'd be high in our B&F.

When we did that with Kingsley we were on the verge of a premiership. If we were on the verge of a premiership in 2012 I'd agree, but we're not so I don't. Delist him and then keep him delisted.

Kingsley wasn't delisted. He was told he would be but when the Nick Stevens deal fell through he was retained but put in a big post-season to stay on the list. Went to a fat farm as I recall.

So excited!
Would be good if we could snag a win in similar fashion to last year with shulz tearing there defence a new hole :D

If he had, then he would not have picked Chaplin. I cannot believe that Matty thinks that Chaplin is worthy of wearing our jumper.

omg omg omg

im sooo excited

hope to heaven and earth that i finish work @ 12, 1230 max saturday afternoon so i can go to the mcg and not be delayed by bosses who think saturdays are days where they can take their leisure and delay their minions who want to go and enjoy the footy :(

Love it. :thumbsu:

Butcher isn't ready for AFL but he is more than ready to have a taste. :thumbsu:

Get to see the occasional SANFL games on the ABC and Jonas is the one I have been waiting for. :thumbsu:

We also have enough defenders in the team for Salter to play at front, even more so with Ebert out. :thumbsu:

Pretty obvious that Matthew Primus wants to win or at least get close. Last week cannot happen again.

Although I don't even want to begin to think what would happen if despite positive moves at the selection table, we still get a flogging.

We are 22 to one for tipping apparently. Those are fairly skewed odds IMO. Hopefully they don't come down before tips count!!!

Line at 73.5 for $2 is awesome.

May have also put some on the win haha.

Mmm.

I'm really confused as to why the odds are that high though, considering how we have played against hawthorn in recent years. It would be a bit of an anomaly if we were slaughtered.

EDIT: I guess I just keep forgetting we are bottom of the ladder

That line bet is a good TSW. If we get smashed this weekend I will lose it. We've named a competitive side to go out there and have a crack. I'm not expecting a win or anything crazy like that but we should make them earn it. I think we may tire late on though playing on such a big ground. First hit out at the G this year right?

Amazing that after last weeks embarrassment, just seeing the side we've wanted to see on paper for a while gives us all such blind optimism.

I'll admit I'm pretty excited, but I think Butcher may struggle a bit, as long as he shows signs though, Schulz will be a bit underdone, Rodan won't be at full fitness and Carlile has had a tough year. Good to see Surjan back! and it has sounded like Jonas has been knocking on the door for a while.

The coach has done what we've wanted, now the it's up to the players to restore some pride.

Gotta say that I didn't think it would be possible to get excited about watching us play this year, especially after the debacle of the past fortnight. But those are some very pleasing ins: Schulz and Surjan especially, and the two debutants.

If you added Hartlett to that side (at the expense of Broadbent) and perhaps Phillips and Pittard (take your pick out of Salter, Thomas, Rodan or Kornes to come out next), then that starts to look like a well-structured team. Even moreso if Moore and Paul Stewart can come back next year on the back of really strong preseasons.
