Cardigan for Geelong’s listI thought it was a 'sweater'
AFL own everything, the licences, the trademarks, the rights to jumpers.AFL owns the licences.
There’s a difference.

The AFL obviously think this outrageous display of disrespect to Collingwood is ok.
Hope they take it all the way to the High Court.
This is such a shit rhetoric and it's a disgrace that the entire Port board can collectively support the mental gymnastics. There would’ve been nothing more sh*t club no history than disgracing the State of Origin guernsey with a 10 goal loss.
So in that respect, there is always going to be agitation from non-Victorian clubs because they are playing in a league which is biased against them and where they are just filler. The AFL has never made any secrets about it just being the VFL renamed. Why do you think the GF will be at the MCG forever and all the major awards are VFL awards?

“A long and painful story”... “catalyst for NTUA”.Ummm - first part of your question is easy- have you watched the sanfl? It is a dying competition, alway was. Currently about 800 people at each game, a few snags and and a kick and catch at half time. The AFL was and is the biggest competition in the land.
re our history and why it’s been big push the last 10 years - it’s a long and painful story. Not sure you’re probably really that interested. Actually, Dwayne Russell explained it pretty well at the start of tonight’s game - it’s the catalyst for NTUA.
I get other people may not care about our heritage. But the feeling is perfectly mutual in regard to their opinion on our heritage. Port Adelaide is bigger to me then the AFL. I would have stopped following football years ago, except I love Port Adelaide. That's just how it is.Port would hope like hell the other clubs/the AFL have forgotten about their heritage of putting themselves and their interests above the collective interest or will of the rest of the teams in their competition. Thankfully the AFL and their clubs do not rely on Port like the SANFL and their clubs did.
I think the thing Port fans don’t really get is that their history/heritage really doesn’t mean anything to the rest of the comp (except in this case where a claim to their heritage impinges on Collingwood exisiting heritage in the competition). Fans of the teams in WA don’t care, same in QLD, same in NSW, same in Vic, and especially in SA where Port are the clear little brother to the Crows. Nobody is denying Port won a bunch in the SANFL and wore the prison bars in that comp, they are just saying they can’t wear that same design in the AFL because another club had something similar to it in that comp first.

Why do you care what other teams wear?
It's an AFL branded replica, not the real deal. It's even recoloured. Which is exactly what we've been wearing for over a decade. And even still, it's entirely irrelevant.
Laugh at them, insult their pretentiousness. But trying to block what another team wears is Eddie levels of insecure.
“A long and painful story”... “catalyst for NTUA”.
Bhahahahahahaha... you really have drunk kochie and the clubs kool aid havent ya!..
Please do tell us all what this “long and painful” story is!.. I just cant wait to hear it!
The NTUA is nothing more than Kochies blatent and shameful rip off of this..
And the “we are port adelaide” line is ripped straight from a movie called “we are Marshall” about a US college football team that lost most of its team and coaches in an airline accident..
All nothing more than Kochie and the marketing department desperately trying to manufacture this aura of a club steeped in history and tragedy.. when there is nothing. They are just a tiny club from a tiny footy league in South Australia.. that cant even keep its head financially above water...
Imagine being so gullible you’d actually fall for that shameless marketing strategy.. how many bridges have you bought in the past, ive got a special on a few of em going at the moment if you want another!.
Imagine being so low as a club you have to steal ideas from other clubs as if you somehow have a similar background and tragic circumstance in your history...
Liverpool are one of the greatest clubs in World sport with 10’s of million supporters worldwide and a history steeped in glory and horrible tragedy.. that compete in one of the greatest leagues in the world.
Port are a tiny little club from a pissant league at the arse end of the world!..
It's still a guernsey to me.When did "guernsey" fall out of favour so much? Feel like everyone calls it a jumper these days.
Just using your own argument here. Imagine getting so upset about what another club wears.
Ego.But why does this matter to Collingwood supporters?
Ego.
Brand damage, at the moment our black and white brand is looking a lot better than yoursIt’s time we sued them for breaching their agreement and selling black and white jumpers. Maybe 5 million for brand damage plus all sales of those jumpers?
It's still a guernsey to me.
So are Collingwood.. so are dozens of other clubs with any history. You have to remember this. Port is a suburban football club. A lot of us have heritage and have fathers and grandfathers that have played for the club in the prison bar jumper. I played with and against a bunch a guys who won premiership medals at Port and played in Victoria and won AFL premierships.
It was obvious to everyone in the 80's that the comp would go national. The amount of money Vic clubs were splashing around wasn't sustainable. That's why we wanted to join the AFL.
Why only the last 10 years. Until then Port was pretty much owned and controlled by the SANFL and decisions were made that were detrimental to the history and ethos of the club and its traditional supporter base. The SANFL has not owned the Port license since 2014 hence the change.
Most Port supporters do not expect Port to ever be the Magpies again and not expect to wear the bars in every game but we think that what we asked for is not unreasonable and that is the reason for the backlash.
I wouldnt have thought the “best club in the land” would be the one with over 10 million in debt and expecting all the other clubs in the league to prop them up..Because our heritage is all about striving to be the best club in the land.
It is what we have always been about.
We think big, we expect success and we dont take no for an answer.

Port joined a league the pies were already in.. they need to be respectful of that.
So what is youre point
We sold 250 woollen prison bar guernseys this week at $250 a pop. That’s $62,500 made on just one item this week.If Port weren’t dirt poor and could pay Collingwood the necessary pound(s) of flesh this would have been resolved ages ago. Either through a settlement or through spending the necessary money on lawyers to win in court. The burning issue the media never mentions is that they’re trying to find means to an end on the cheap.
Exactly.. its hilarious that they actually think anyone cares about their history..Port would hope like hell the other clubs/the AFL have forgotten about their heritage of putting themselves and their interests above the collective interest or will of the rest of the teams in their competition.
