Don’t understand it, they don’t get to wear it every week but why can’t they wear it on occasions like this, just doesn’t make sense.
AFL missing out on a trick here too, look at the different NBA jerseys each team has and the extra revenue that can generate.
I think the fear would be if they allow it now, what then happens in 5 years time, if they request to wear it in all home games. They want to now stop it before it gets to that stageI can see both sides to this but how exactly does Collingwood lose by not standing in the way of Port using it once a year?
I'd imagine there'd be positive credits across the league if it chose that option that would offset any perceived merchandising losses
Incorrect.Give it up. The AFL has made the right decision to say no before it gets out of hand.
The Swans are South Melbourne so some Vic bias should still extend to them unlike the Lions who are really the Bears. When freo wore a near replicate of an old swans guernsey on more then one occasion there was no consultation needed afl hold all licences and control so it didn’t matter what the swans think.
I know enough that a Port Adelaide FC heritage jumper should be pink and blue

Go gather up all the 130 yr old people and make a stand then.
Every living person that is interested in the history of Australian rules football(not vfl) knows of the Iconic prison bar jumper and it’s importance to AUSTRALIAN football
Because Port are trying to wear a black & white stripe jumper that's why when they said they wouldn't coming into the AFL, Collingwood let them have 150th year which they requested Port are trying push it more & have been selling jumpers stating they won't do that.
Collingwood signed that agreement knowing that there would be no more heritage rounds, Port was not privy to that information. The whole thing was a con and Collingwood and the AFL were acting in bad faith, that agreement would only go badly for the AFL and Collingwood in court. It was a Heritage Round. Big difference. Collingwood have no issue with Port wearing those colours within a designated Heritage Round. Now they want to backtrack on the agreement all parties signed.
Ok, let’s talk closed shop comps like the US sports the AFL loves to copy. For the 57th time, there are about 5,000 professional clubs in European soccer leagues who play against each other. There are 18 AFL clubs in the AFL. Each can have its own design/colours, something which is obviously not possible in soccer.
Did you see what they did to the swans when they were hoodwinked with the buddy deal? The Swans are South Melbourne so some Vic bias should still extend to them unlike the Lions who are really the Bears.
I’ve made this very point about 5 times so far today in this thread..I think the fear would be if they allow it now, what then happens in 5 years time, if they request to wear it in all home games. They want to now stop it before it gets to that stage
Ok, let’s talk closed shop comps like the US sports the AFL loves to copy.
NBA? Check out Sacramento and Toronto. Compare Houston and Chicago. Detroit and LA Clippers? It’s not hard is it?
NFL? Try New England and Houston. Pittsburgh and New Orleans?
The current argument is so flimsy, it’s basically “because we said so”. And don’t even have the guts to say so.
The bias isn't Vic centric it's big club centric!Bias doesn’t extend over state lines unless it’s got to do with vfl money.
Nah, lets not..Ok, let’s talk closed shop comps like the US sports the AFL loves to copy.

Port are a great club club with a proud history that wear the prison bars in the SANFL. Port in AFL wear teal, so stick to teal. Collingwood should also have an away strip when clashing with home side such as north.
Who cares? It's a jumper....if Collingwood are so insecure then that's on themBecause Port are trying to wear a black & white stripe jumper that's why when they said they wouldn't coming into the AFL, Collingwood let them have 150th year which they requested Port are trying push it more & have been selling jumpers stating they won't do that.
If Port are unhappy with the conditions in the contract they signed on entering the AFL they can always hand in the Licence. I'm sure Tasmanina would gladly take it off their hands and would have no problem coming up with a jumper that won't clash with any other team.
"Wowee! I think you mean the Geelong Falcons."eyre peninsula was the best football player factory in Australia...
Rubbish.. stop focusing on the heritage round contract and focus on the original, and still standing, contract/agreement port power signed and agreed to in full when they entered the comp.Collingwood signed that agreement knowing that there would be no more heritage rounds, Port was not privy to that information. The whole thing was a con and Collingwood and the AFL were acting in bad faith, that agreement would only go badly for the AFL and Collingwood in court.
can always add another SA team at a later dateCaveman yeh nah, its Melbourne with too many teams.
If you can read I had a was in there."Wowee! I think you mean the Geelong Falcons."
