Hopefully now the Umpires stop screwing around for the remainder of the season and start officiating. Properly, This might work in Ports favour come finals but I doubt it
What will happen with 100% certainty is that games will now see a lot more of the BS delayed drama of score reviews - something that those of us games absolutely friggin hate. What goal umpire will now dare make a call based on judgement that is even close to being wrong?

Every umpire gets decisions wrong from time to time - every single feckin one. Some make more errors than others and the home ground voice of affirmation is definitely a thing in influencing the lop sided free count against visiting teams.

Which makes McLachlan's decision to throw this one goal umpire under the bus at a press conference and ban him from officiating for the rest of the year for making one bad call (albeit one that had a profound impact) such a cowardly and wrong decision.

It's typical gutless elite populism from McLachlan and you can bet a pile of polo pony dung that this wouldn't have happened if say, Gold Coast, GWS or maybe even us were the ones on the wrong end of the call.

And remember this statement from AFL Footy Ops Director Steven Hocking from 2019:

Currently, every goal is silently reviewed in the AFL Review Centre (ARC) regardless of whether an umpire requests one.

Why not points as well?

Seems to me this is an AFL feck up as much as anyone else's.

I can't remember, was the Jenkins point reviewed? And still called a goal?

Can't blame the ump for having no faith in the system after that.

Seems nothing has changed

THE AFL has backed the controversial goal review call that helped Adelaide snatch a three-point win over Port Adelaide in the 45th Showdown.

“After the Josh Jenkins (Adelaide Crows) shot at goal late in the fourth quarter, the goal umpire called for a score review and gave his preliminary decision as a goal.

“After reviewing all relevant angles for 23 seconds, the score review official determined there was no clear evidence beyond reasonable doubt that the preliminary call of goal was incorrect, and hence a goal was confirmed.

AFL backs call as Josh Jenkins admits his Showdown matchwinning goal appeared to hit the post

This could be the end for Rowe..As a mainstream radio DJ.Dont think he will get the flick ,next week.
But probably be replaced before the new year.Long after his Port hatetred tirade.
Major sponsors of 5 AA must be horrified. That such a bafoon is live on air.
5AA bosses will have lots of questions to answer Monday morning. Port supporters are also consumers of AA advertising.
What did he say?
