'a funny old fellow'. And 'honey is his favourite fare' . 🎶

I mean, it's pretty clear what is being said here and it's damned offensive.

Don't we all.
What a funny old fellow is Humphrey
He gets in all manner of strife.
He leads a very exciting life.
And honey’s his favorite fare
Which is hardly so very surprising
He’s a really amazing old bear
What a funny old fellow is Humphrey
Humphrey the fun loving bear.

jfc can we have a rule of unique profile pics, making it very hard quick scrolling through threads to not think schulz/bomber et al. are having epic monologue rants
No. I envision a future of an entire forum of all Hinkley to West Coast avatars until we manifest it into existence.

Lol 3rd after 21 rounds, just smashed the top side and no representation. This bloke's a deadset yahoo

Who would you replace in that side? The actual AA side will be different, they tend to allocate to teams that have performed well, but it's hard to argue that isn't the best 22 side.

I'd probably have Houston ahead of Blakey - particularly after the last few weeks - and Butters is probably competing with Treloar, Sheezel based on a full season and possibly Heeney out if he/the Swans continue to collapse the next few rounds.

Kane will get Houston on the field and maybe butters on the bench.
Old saying, a champion team will always beat a team of champions.

Our improved performances are more based on how well our lesser lights are playing than our better players.
You get your bottom 6 playing there best your going places.

Aside from maybe Houston none of our players should be in AA consideration this year, and Houston is no lock either. Butters and Rozee both haven't been anywhere near as good as last year, JHF's best is good enough but he's still young and needs consistency before you'd consider him.

BJ's team doesnt even have Chad Warner and he's been better than any of our players for the year.

You could make an argument for Houston ahead of Blakey/Zorko, but maybe not too. I'd expect Houston, Butters and maybe JHF to make the squad of 40 but only Houston is an actual chance of getting in the side.

The wildcard round stuff is still getting decent airing on Vic radio. The point being made that if AFL was to introduce it, they would likely see the games played a neutral venues with states whose teams are not in the finals being asked to submit a bid to host one each. (more $$ for AFL House)

This post makes a valid 'what if' point - what if the gap between say the 7th team and the 10th team at the end of the minor round is not close at all? How fair would it be if the 10th team in that scenario got up in the wild card game? Imagine the outrage if that 10th team was not Victorian and the 7th team that got booted out of finals contention was a Victorian team, say Collingwood?

There would be riots across Melbourne. The gallows they used to string up Dan Andrews effigies during covid would be rolled out to lynch The Dill - no effigy used this time.

Wildcard round is just another money grab by the AFL. It does nothing to improve the integrity of the competition.

The AFL Commission will meet at the end of the season to potentially ratify a change to the long-standing finals format — and those changes could be introduced as early as next year. A wildcard round — which would see eighth play 10th and seventh play ninth — would take place on the bye weekend in between the end of the home-and-away season and the start of the finals. However, in a “twist” that would likely leave participating clubs displeased, the AFL is considering selling the pair of fixtures to the highest-bidding city.

Interesting when you think about it, we could win the flag and have nobody in the AA team.
That would have to be a first I reckon and say more about how well our bottom tier players have done this year.

It should be 7th vs 10th and 8th vs 9th.
