I've seen somewhere a suggestion to make the draft order not directly related to the season ladder (post-Finals). I've decided to check how it would be if the draft considered the past four seasons.
The person might have a point. The idea is to help teams struggling through time, and not to help an eventual tanking.
Of course, Finals would need to be taken into consideration as well.
This is what I've found:
Tigers would have had the 4th pick (instead of 1st)
Demons would have had the 10th pick (instead of 5th)
Other changes wouldn't be much relevant.
Crows would have had the 4th pick (instead of 9th)
Cats would have had the 10th pick (instead of 7th)
Other changes wouldn't be much relevant.
Suns would have had the 2nd pick (instead of 7th)
Carlton would have had the 5th pick (instead of 10th)
Giants would have had the 7nd pick (instead of 3rd)
Eagles would have had the 8th pick (instead of 2nd)
Other changes wouldn't be much relevant.
Unless they play Finals, only North and W.C. would have a shot at the #1 spot.
Then, the league would be clearly separated in 3 groups:

Gold Coast Suns star Mac Andrew has reportedly signed what could be the richest deal in the history of the AFL.
News Corp’s Callum Dick reported the 20-year-old utility had penned a six-year deal with a games trigger in 2030 to activate a further four years, with the deal coming in at between $12-14m based on certain clauses.

That’s a ridiculously risky contract for the Suns. He has shown glimpses of star power but hardly anything yet to warrant that kind of a contract.
Could pay off by locking him down and he does become a genuine star of the comp. Or they could be stuck long term with a large contract for just a decent player.

MELBOURNE will not have access to tall forward prospect Tairon Ah-Mu under Next Generation Academy rules when the 17-year-old hits his draft season next year.
Ah-Mu is a member of the Demons' NGA program but under the AFL's eligibility criteria, he does not qualify for the club to have any priority access over him as a draftee.
Ah-Mu kicked three goals for the Dandenong Stingrays on Saturday against the Gippsland Power, taking the straight-kicking key forward's tally to 21.5 from 10 games this season.
Ah-Mu, who has Samoan descent, is 198cm and also has featured for the under-17s futures team as well as playing under Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd at Haileybury College in Melbourne.

They are expected to have provisional access to be a part of the NGA development program but any decision on draft access to the pair has not been made

Dont know if this has already been posted, but I knew we lost the 2001 SF - ratshit kick on goal by Fabian Francis late in the game to try and bounce thru the ball from 50m out and hit the post, and the 2014 PF with ratshit kicking for goal in the 1st quarter, both by 3 pts- didn't know about the Lions and Giants final.
