There are players at Geelong, Brisbane and Sydney that would all be lesser lights at Port.

The style, system and structure are a far bigger issue than ranking the talent from the 15th to 23rd player.

You can throw leadership and resilience in as issues as well.

You're right but you won't convince some here. Didn't you realize ,Narkle is peak Bobby Hill under a different coach. flipping insane.

You can flip it the other way also.
How many players from Geelong today, GWS last week,Sydney last night even Brisbane today wouldn’t get a game for Port.
Just about every player would make our side.

It was one of those strange seasons.
It wasn’t so much about how good you was it was more about how bad you wasn’t.
It was a very scrappy season and we won enough to finish second.
What we lacked in class we made up for in determination.
At the end of the day eventually the lack of class killed us.
We have some very good players like all clubs, we just don’t have enough of them.
It’s not rocket science.

Obviously we need a change in coaching as I said many times that should have happened after the Dogs Preliminary final.
We also lack depth and talent, we have players getting a regular game that wouldn’t get a look in at a top side.
That comes back to the coaching and recruiting.
Thing is if you think just changing the coaching is going to solve our problems then you’re in for a big shock.

Yep Ken needs to go but also we have a lot of players that need to go also.
just look at our forward line, it’s MG and Rioli and that’s it basically.
If there out injured what’s the options? Sweet fk all.
You got to get past the illusory truth effect and see the truth.

We’ve moved players on every year, all teams do.

All the above need to go and there are more than that need to join them.
We have a soft captain, two forwards one very good player at the back who might be gone and some real try hards in defense.
A midfield that goes missing when the pressure is on and JHF to plug every hole all over the field.

Agreed, eg no doubt many who don't support geebung have been waiting for them to drop out of contention for years now, and even though they didn't get the chocolates last night Scott's ability to continually replace a soldier with another soldier without damaging their structure makes it painfully obvious Port missed the bus big time by not appointing him when they had the chance.

As you suggest there were at least 4 or 5 `lesser lights' playing for the cats last night who would have kicked the dew off the grass for the Maggies for a couple of seasons under kern's coaching, been played out of position if they got a chance at the higher level, and then disappeared without a trace!

Not sure if it's official yet, but most sources running with us finishing third and Geelong fourth. Despite the pre prelim talk being that if we were to meet in the grand final, Cats would be the higher ranked 'home' team.

Seems a bit 'yep confirmed' to me. You'd think the team that lost 2 finals would finish below the team that flogged them in a final. Probably matters more to Freo than us (they have our 1st) but wouldn't mind having our later picks ahead of the Cats as well.
