He's thrown out the bait and the seagulls are flocking

Yep.

Like all modern sports commentators he’s on a a performance contract which rewards ‘engagements’ which bring views to the sponsors who pay his salary and provide income to his employers.

The more outrageous and offensive his comments are, the more people who rush to get on line to comment.

This has been the revenue model for over a decade now for almost every commercial media outlet. And still people get sucked in by it.

Sure these schmucks are lacking integrity by playing the game but there’s f-all money to be made in honest hard working journalism based on research and facts these days. No one buys a subscription to a proper media outlet with proper trained journalists any more. We want the sugar hit of instant outrage instead.

So news outlets become entertainers and they don’t employ journalists but performers.

they become hack shock jocks playing to our prejudices.

And that’s on us.

And that's why it's so important to have the ABC, even if it is being invaded by right wingers.

North Melbourne currently has a proposal before the AFL that would see the Roos sell a home game to Perth as soon as 2025.They’re thinking about life after Tasmania when the Devils enter. Would be good news for the Dockers or Eagles - one less game of travel to the east coast.

Either that or they will make us travel to Perth to play them.

Will it actually mean more travel for North? Or will the AFL give them more home games against non-vic so they still only travel minimal?
