Port requests for Gold Coast to change home guernsey

The clash here is that the local audience will be more aligned with the team wearing the national colour and that doesn't work with the port plan to build a support base there.

Gold Coast with local support and a tourist destination... Ouch. It is like the girl with the slightly larger assets walked in and pinched your man after he took you to the ice skating.

Unlike "normal" H&A games, we've paid GC $500k for this game. So all of your examples & arguments about who/what club controls what under "normal" circumstances goes out the window.

Also as I've read elsewhere, the Chinese don't take kindly to white dudes running around wearing their national colours pretending to be Chinese..... it's going to do the GC brand more harm than good, especially if they lose.

Koch has GC/AFL's best interests at heart :thumbsu:

Carry on.
1. Port do not control what colour jumpers that GC wear simply because they bought a game.
2. They aren't "pretending to be Chinese" they are their colours as they are China's.
3. They will care the exact same about the GC brand win, lose or draw.
4. Koch has only Port's best interests at heart.

Information taken directly from the port board is hardly a trustworthy source

In this instance you're entirely incorrect.

Well that proves it for me then.

You sure showed me up with that single line of irrefutable evidence.

I know you can't see it. But im hanging my head in shame as we speak

Good luck with your projects ... poor management by your lot!!

Koch fears all the Chinese will barrack for Gold Coast because they love red and yellow. Red is lucky and yellow represents royalty. He wants them to wear white which is what the Chinese wear to a funeral.

Yellow? GCS colours are red gold, not yellow. And yes yellow does represent royalty if china but I think a lot m9re relevant is gold represents prosperity.

Lol @ Port, what a balls up.
Extremely funny stuff, Koch has to try and fight a losing battle as he royally stuffed up and will have no support from the Chinese.
Suck it Koch, you want everything. 11 home games, plus a Chinese one, now the colours and your poor business deal has bitten you on the arse.
There is no way you should be able to buy games off anyone or Collingwood could have every game at the MCG.

Surely there is some sort of contract which says who wears what colours?

Wouldn't think so as there is no clash & besides had Kochy tried to include it when terms were negotiated, GC probably would have told him to gagf.

Kock just trying it on, GC need to stand strong here which it sounds like they are doing. Hilarious.

The port experts like Janus still can't get their head around simple facts like the home team doesn't dictate what colours the opposition wears.

Long diatribes about gcs' sponsorship contributions to the venture don't apply. If port see Guernsey colour as an issue then they've cocked this up

AFL still controls who wears what jumpers and there is no clash and gold coast for administrative purposes are still the home team.

Clearly home games cannot be bought. It is even a laugh some people thought it has.

What has happened is stupid enough but the reality is Port have asked another club to play a home game against them in China. GC have basically said, give us $500K and we will play our home game against you in China. Dumb on a lot of levels as it screws Gold Coast fans that want to see their team as often as possible live and the AFL have allowed those fans to be screwed over. So much for doing all you can growing the game and supporting football and fans wanting to watch more football up in Gold Coast.

Why the hell play an AFL game in China in the first place? What a bloody stupid idea!
Bingo!

Exhibition game in October or early February would make far more sense if trying to allow a new market to see our game without ripping it off some relatively new fans up at Gold Coast.

Yes yes this is all so true

Lol Kochie is doing a good job of getting people interested in this game. Working like a charm aswell.
Wow, master at work.

He's getting Australians that care about AFL more interested in a game of AFL.

He's like, a smart person, believe me.

Too bad it won't translate to getting people to buy tickets to fly over and attend the game.

All this nonsense would have 0 impact over in Shanghai currently.
