Game Day Port v Sydney: battle of COVID19 Breach Cup

I think you will find that we had just as many good players out when we played Richmond. Also approximately the same number of players at 30 games and under. Was a very good win.
You are right it was a good win but their midfield was way under strength, a good win still.
As it stands atm, if we are honest with ourselves, how many here think that we would beat WC in Perth, Brisbane in Brisbane or Geelong any where ?
Many may disagree and that's fine, this forum is for peoples opinions, which we all have varying ones.
Imo Geelong at the moment are the best team in the competition, that can change in coming weeks but if Port cannot overcome a disiplined well coached Geelong, we will not reach the ultimate prize.

Trying not to be negative about our team but under Hinkley, we have displayed a mental weakness when we have to win or when we come up against the best. This is something that has haunted our team for years now, we break down at critical moments in games and have produced many goal less quarters, this is not good enough to go all the way.
This is also the reason the media although keen on the way Port play, still have reservations about their prospects.
Have a quick look at our record against reigning premiers.
And every finals match under Ken has been pretty good, hardly blown away.
I guess I'm just a little optimistic

We don't have too many problems with beating West Coast in Perth or Brisbane, we just struggle with head duckers at Adelaide Oval.

Past results are good stats but but i'm talking about now, heading into finals.
You can bring up the stats for Brisbane too but they are a much improved outfit with a much better coach in 2020.
We smashed Richmond in the elimination final in 2014, again a much different side today.

True but how many finals games have we won since 2014 under Ken ?
That's the key issue. I don't want 2020 to be 2002 or 2003 revisited - top all year, and then lose the big games at the end of the year. Geez in years to come, it'd be nice to look back on this year, and remember our 150th year as a premiership year, as well as the year the Crows finished bottom without a win!!!

Yep, I agree. It's time to see if we have grown up.

Feel confident for a change.

Ports by 10 goals.

Sigh. Wrong again.

However, all the new ins bar maybe Xavier were well down on reactions and energy, and not sure Todd's hand and Connor's heel are quite right yet, but in because they need match intensity practice.

Covid-19 sure has messed up training regimes for everyone.

Agreed wholeheatedly - and to a point, the problem has never been whether we could get up for the big games, it's often been getting the job done professionally when we "should" so we can get to finals - and I'm seeing that this year. Coaching panel is part of the solution, evergreen performances from the twilight year part of our list, great drafting and mostly good trading and a bit of luck with injuries right now are more parts.

The team that struggled to put away the Adelaide Crows? Thats your best team?
Right at this moment, yes imo. Depending on where teams play, WC in Perth, Brisbane in Brisbane is a tall order for any team, unfortunately Geelong and some other teams don't see Port at AO as insurmountable, sad but Port don't play that well at home.
As far as the best team for 2020, time will tell, even though Brisbane have the good fortune of playing most of their games at the home.

Yep the team that struggled to put the Crows away, well they gave us our biggest smashing of the season, so if you want to compare who they struggled to beat what does it say about us, are we worse than the Cows?
