Oh on a side note, Lycett is the worst ruckman in the league.

Not great list management when you consider we went into this year with Lycett and Teakle as our preferred rucks, and McKenzie as our second key defender.Oh on a side note, Lycett is the worst ruckman in the league.
If true unbelievable, this is the first thing players should do. Explains a lot.Hinkley doesn’t believe in practising set shots. He thinks it’s just all mental. Meanwhile, players continue to make basic mistakes with set shots, such as going too close to the man on the mark. We must be the woust set as shot side in the comp, and it regularly costs us important games, and this will continue as long as we’re stuck with the brilliant mind of Ken Hinkley.
Exactly. Not great list management when you consider we went into this year with Lycett and Teakle as our preferred rucks, and McKenzie as our second key defender.
THE GOOD
We got a good run with the umpires.
Lord - a big forward kicking a bag. Best game he's played.
Rozee - spark and class when free but wasn't that free.
Rioli - most of his touches were gold.
Drew - very good game.
Overall, the defending was pretty good but when the boys dropped their guts, it became a parade.
Lachie Jones - not bad.
Bergman - up there as well but problems still with kicking.
Aliir - I thought he was OK considering he was a bit injured.
Horne-Francis - tried but the Lions played him well.
Williams - OK
THE MEDIOCRE
Butters - his worst game for a while. The Lions played him well.
Marshall - horrible body language kicking those goal. Didn't want it.
Burton - mediocre or ugly, probably mediocre.
Houston - average but battled.
Powell-Pepper - he was played well. Tried but down.
THE UGLY
Coaching and tactics - terrible. A loser attitude and very passive, especially behind the ball. No freaking run.
Forwards - kicking poorly in the first half.
Defence - overlooked but our running from defence was the worst for the year. I don't think we had a backmen anywhere near metres gained. The main reason we lost the game.
Playing injured players - Lycett, McKenzie not so good.
Midfield - they got beat but they kept trying.
We really need a ruck.
They were just well drilled.
Lycett - battled hard but goneski. Hayes would probably have been better.
McEntee - does absolutely nothing. The worst, just the worst. He wouldn't make the AFLW team.
Wines - just couldn't get it done. Nowhere near captain material.
Byrne-Jones - one nice goal but horrible especially one on one.
Duursma - terrible and slow and doesn't trust his body. Needs a week in the tropics.
Farrell - missing in action but not quite as bad as McEntee.
Finlayson - hot or cold, cold in Brisbane.
McKenzie - old and ragged.
Boak - he gets a pass for being 23
ELEPHANT MAN UGLY
Hinkley - a parasite.
Koch - a parasite lover and a puppet.
We lost the game by structure. They were just efficient and worked together as a whole.
Hinkleyball.
We are going to have a real problem against the GWS.
Is Carr really the answer? Why do we keep assuming this? In two showdowns, a QF and a couple of other big losses, he has presided over a very capable midfield that has been soundly beaten. He failed to select/develop a second ruckman early enough this year, investing wasted games in Teakle as his preferred option when Lycett was dropped. He hasn’t got the wings right at any stage. He couldn’t find a way to get games into Jackson when his form was running hot. I don’t think Carr’s the God of coaching that everyone assumes he is. He might be an upgrade by far on Hinkley, but we have to look properly for the best candidate when the time finally comes to get a new coach.
2 more years. Crazy times. There's no use talking about specifics. Everyone is talking about personnel and criticising individuals when it's obvious that isn't the problem. We have people saying Wines can't play when he literally broke the record for most Brownlow votes of all time less than 2 years ago. We have people saying Marshall can't kick when he couldn't miss from anywhere as recently as last year. The problem is not individuals. The problem is coaching and culture.
We have no discernible system other than hoping the midfield dominates and trying to lock the ball in our half. We can't control the tempo of a game in any other way. A coach's job is to bring a group of individuals together to be collectively stronger as a team, minimising its weaknesses and maximising its strengths. It's obvious this is not happening.
Our culture is the worst part though. We accept mediocrity so that is what we get. The continued extension of Hinkley is the obvious example but it's a broader narrative than that. The little battler club mentality. The constant loser talk from everyone at all levels of the club. It all comes out in these big occasions when we go to water. Strong clubs with good cultures rise to the occasion in these games and actually perform at a higher level than normal. We play meek and scared and that's because we are a meek and scared club. We see ourselves as a challenger brand and that's the way we play. Oh we'll have a shot at the big boys but it's a bit too much to expect us to win, don't you think? There's no hard or ruthless edge, no determination or resolve. It's just going through the motions and oh well, always next year.
There's a very good reason the more astute people on this forum were unfazed when we won 13 in a row despite everyone else talking about grand finals. The evidence suggests that we don't have what it takes to win finals and perform at the business end of the season against the good teams when the stakes are high. That evidence only grew stronger last night.
Agree, but what the evidence also showed was the reputation of some of our senior players to spud it up in big finals. The 2 you mentioned are front of mind, not Just them, I could add Allir, boak finalyson, lycett was fair but has spudded it up previously. We are going nowhere when these senior players can’t stand upThere's no use talking about specifics. And around we go again.I'm angry. Though I'm really not sure whether I'm angry at Port for such an insipid performance, or whether I'm angry at myself for getting sucked into believing this team just might be different to the previous Hinkley teams of years past.
Such an embarrassing performance. It's nights like these as to why the Club should never has extended Ken's contract prior to this finals series.
Who cares if they have off field issues? If you're putting your hand up to play, you don't get to have an asterisk excusing you of piss poor performance irrespective of what is happening in your life off the field. If you can't perform, don't play, find someone else who can.
Hell liken 2020 to 2001What time on Monday do we get the Rucci propaganda piece on the Port website? Something about “great teams face adversity” or “Keeping the faith”

Keep your own rubbish thank you ....Maybe Finlayson would be a better fit at the Clowns, then he wouldn't have to worry about performing in finals.
They won the game. Their tactics worked.I noticed that Brisbane players targetted JHF a lot and it got me thinking.. why being a 30 year old grown ass man going after someone who just reached adulthood is considered tough in the AFL?
Old enough to win a brownlow or earn hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Old enough to make older players look stupid. Old enough to keep veterans out of a team. Old enough when you walk across the white line. You think JHF felt bullied? Lol.I noticed that Brisbane players targetted JHF a lot and it got me thinking.. why being a 30 year old grown ass man going after someone who just reached adulthood is considered tough in the AFL?
Its a team game. If we let that happen that's on us.I noticed that Brisbane players targetted JHF a lot and it got me thinking.. why being a 30 year old grown ass man going after someone who just reached adulthood is considered tough in the AFL?
