Observations from today (got there at 9.30 so missed first part, finished a bit after 10.30)

• Absentees (at least players I didn’t spot) - Hurn, O’Neill, Winder, Jones, Darling, LEdwards
• Modified (as in just did fitness work) - Yeo, Waterman, Bazzo, Foley, Barrass
• Hunt got to know his teammates by doing run throughs and laps by himself
• Disappeared/left early - Gaff, Shuey, SPS, Ryan
• Noobs - Hewett, Ginbey, Dewar, Baker were out there. Didn’t really do anything whilst I was there. Simmo had a chat to them as a group for about 5 minutes. Looked to be explaining one of the drills (moving the ball by hand in a small congested space to find someone running out the front). They all left not long after I got there
• The two NGA boys are very light framed but that’s not really news
• More intensity and urgency in the drills today than previous. More chat and vocalisation. Schofield in particular was urging players on
• Speaking of Schofield he seemed to be in charge of the session with Simmo happy to be more of an observer.
• Gaff when he was out there was moving pretty well and looks a little lighter than last year
• I think I said it last time but it warrants repeating. Across the board the players look in good shape, the club couldn’t be unhappy with the way they’ve presented for preseason
• Culley is an early standout from what I’ve seen. In very good physical condition and looks hard. He’s not express pace, which we knew, but he’s running well
• Clark is also looking good and he and Culley are hard to tell apart from a distance - kicking left (Culley) and right (Clark) the observable difference. NB: Culley has shortened his dreads and ties them up under his cap so doesn’t stand out as easily anymore
• The group that missed last season (Cole, Chesser, Allen, Sheed, even Gov) are all training and moving well
• Yeo is probably the least advanced of the playing group in his preparation but no cause for meltdowns just yet. It is only December, he’s running and isn’t fat
• Naitanui is easing himself in to training but knees don’t seem to be bothering him
• It’s not particularly important but with apologies to Dark Sharks your mate Jacob Brennan is still there as an assistant

Think that’s it.

Full training starts Monday and they’ve pushed the start time back to 9.00 (from 8.30) so I should be able to see a bit more next week

Really wish they'd put the black training shirts on the club shop and not charge a 100% markup because it's got an eagles logo on it like the $80 training shorts.

So if we remove the 100% mark-up, then who's going to pay to have my Porsche serviced? You think I'll pay for it out of my allowance? Pfffft!

Pretty excited to see what he can do next year with a proper preseason under his belt and time to settle in

Like I said yesterday he’s been an early standout on the track
