I was thinking that while our young uns have shown glimpses they are in no shape to put in a 4 qtr effort.
Our best team still is the old firm with a sprinkling of 1st and 2nd year players.
Logic would be sound if the old firm had put in a single 4 qtr effort once over the last 4 years.

Ginbey sounds likely of playing the most but is very hot and cold. We will see next week.

Culley is no lock for R1
Hough is no lock for R1
Chesser looks like he will need time in the WAFL but will break through for a few games here and there. (Sub 10 disposal with the odd goal) Might get a gig on the wing for a run of games.
Bazzo has just returned and likely builds up in the WAFL early season.
Williams is interesting, hasnt really knocked down the door but is a chance if Darling is injured. Ideally plays a lot of WAFL and gets a good run of form going.

Hewett looks like he can impact games but inconsistently. If he's fit I have him as playing WAFL but will break through for a few games as the bench midfielder.
Long could grab a small forward spot but honestly I wouldn't expect much. Is behind a few others,

Everyone else seems a long way off or are still rehabbing injuries.

From watching him yesterday?

It was a great night, bit of a shame we'll probably be in Adelaide for all the sims next year - hopefully they make a return in 2025.
It was an amazing atmosphere and great place to be for a warm night. I was just to the right of you in the bar for a fair bit. Nothing better than smashing some tins, watching footy and listening to the Port Fan's banter dry up once they lost 🤣

Well not fit enough to play a full AFL game and will be pushed to the flanks/wing a lot. So id say so yes. Might have a good game one week and then be invisible the next

I reckon it'll be an on going thing with the SA/WA clubs from now on.

Rotate hosting trials.

Doubt they'll be at Adelaide Oval. More likely Richmond Oval or Alberton or if the Crows get their new Thebarton base up n running it might be there.

Surprising to read the comments about the atmosphere and it being a good arvo/night out. Might have to look into going to the Radelaide game now :eyes:

On TV the Port game looked dull AF, with the lame camera angle and lukewarm commentary. Glorified training run essentially.

Was there food trucks? Seats on the grass or bench?

It has a resident HJs, which I'm certain you'll be happy about.

There were two small bars open with designated drinking areas

Only food I saw was the HJs bender referred to but you were allowed to bring your own

Plenty of space on the grass to sit plus some bench seating and access to the grandstand was available

How do you know that?
In his 1st ever hit out against an AFL side, yesterday may we'll have been all the coaches wanted of him.
Next week's lotto numbers please...
None of us really know but connecting the dots: If Long and others played a half its not a club policy to keep draftees out. Why wouldn't Hewett play if he was fit? One of our better quality players and is a good size already. Instead came on in the last once everyone is tired and had a run. Additionally he was coming from a low base in 2022.

Maybe Hewett's going for the role of Impact Sub... was a pretty good audition if so

Yep, we've been hearing from training reports he's been a bit behind the draftee pacesetters in Ginbey and Long (which doesn't mean he's unfit, but probably just standard incoming draftee not really having the base to power out a full AFL game, and not being one of those year 1 freaks who come in winning time trials etc).

If we want to keep his explosiveness as part of his game when he does come on reckon sub will be great, or have some games off the forward flank (we're not overloaded with small forwards anyway).

That being said at WAFL level I'd want him playing full games with midfield minutes/rotating fwd but not being overly managed there - obviously stop short of cooking him but would want him in the deep end at that level. If he's got things he needs to improve on best for him to figure them out actually playing the role and game time we want him to play throughout his career.

Yeah agree I was watching on Kayo and the players looked like they were stuck in the mud. Ground just looked muddy and like it was hard to run on. Also the audio was so shit I could hear the wind on a few occassions. Either that or one of the commentators was eating a packet of chips. Guess there was food trucks there.
