Training Pre-season 2024 - Hump Daddy #19 Hype Thread! Dawn of Dimma

Thing about Anderson is that he still has a lot of improvement I believe. As he gets stronger he will be breaking out of stoppages and kicking a lot more goals. Rowell also gets talked about getting his outside game up and he looks to be in great shape to increase his speed and endurance. Humphrey with his extra running power could also take a huge step this year. I think mac Andrew will be a star of the comp but still think it will be a slow burn with him, still needs a bit more size to be elite.

We also have a heap of lesser known/young guys hitting an age/experience where at least a few of them should explode if Dimma can unlock them - Mac, Jeffrey, Rosas, Buddas, Uwland, Moyle, Davies, Ace, Faulkhead.

If 2-3 of these guys come on in a decent way and boost the quality of the bottom 6 of the 22, this is where we see more improvement come from.

Finally re-signed as a member and uped it to Gold, received my online membership cards and it states 16 year member, 16 years of hopes dashed on the rocks. Please let 2024 be our year 🤞
Nothing is promised but by the same token I also wouldn't put a ceiling on us either. If everything went right for us this year then it's not completely unrealistic to think we could replicate what Brisbane did in 2019 and jump into the top 4... but I think it's far more likely that we'd finish in the 5-8 range if that happened. A lot of it will come down to how quickly we can adapt to Dimma's game plan.

As for Walter, he's got a 6-8 week injury (that won't stop him from running) when we're 6 weeks out from the Richmond game. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he just misses the one game and we see him debut at HBS the following week against the Crows. In the grand scheme of things, that's getting off very lightly in terms of an injury that can impact a season. It's entirely possible Jed still plays 20+ AFL games this season.

Marc Lock to break the shackles
It's time to let the peacock fly.

I feel this will be the year our midfield actually becomes one of the best in the comp. ( barring injury) Flanders cemented himself as a genuine gun last year imo he is looking fit AF, expect him to steal some votes of Anderson this year. He is the accumulator we need and takes pressure off Touk and Noah and allows them to be more impactful on the outside. the Comp is so tight and if we just get a few % improvement out of Rowell, Anderson, Flanders and Touk stays fit then lookout!

Other guy im expecting big improvement from is Mac. He played some sketchy games last year but you could just see his confidence building toward the end of the year and played a hell of a game vs Carlton at home last year. Hardwicks positive gameplan and mindset is going to help a guy like Mac to play with more confidence and dare. Hes going to be a big problem for teams to match up on.

I think your point on Dimma bringing a positive mindset can’t be understated, for years the boys have been terrified of making mistakes and now the shackles are off we may very well shock the world

Notice that the tigers had an internal trial today which was filmed for their fans to have a look. We must be close to having a proper hit out amongst ourselves. Would be good to get a first glimpse at how things might set up.

Could sexton be the surprise selection off half back to replace weller? Dimma obviously wants to have his own say on how things look and doesn't want to roll out with the same old line up. Humphrey is going to be a star and maybe sooner than some may have thought.

Humphrey on a 4 year deal may be the best contract in the AFL. He wouldn't be on much money after his rookie deal expires as well.

Sexton is a massive surprise, but could be an interesting call to use his experience and attacking nature to explode off of half back.

So if King and Walter were not available for Opening round what would be our forward line? Hopefully, shipping out Chol will not bite us this year. Listening to coach Miller don't be surprised to see Day playing in Opening round.

Day is probably capable against Richmond defence with balta apparently playing forward. Maybe swing a surprise with someone like mac Andrew forward or ethan read. Tigers key backs look vulnerable and whoever lines up there we should be capable of kicking a score.

Now that's a very poor forward line - Dimma tearing hair out already.
