Is there room for both Barrat and Arie? It’s likely out of him & Arie
Yes. Barrat key position, Arie half backIs there room for both Barrat and Arie?
Looks to me they really want Arie to play and using him in the drills wherever possible. His fitness seems much improved - the question marks will be whether his speed and defensive craft can be exposed - hopefully he has some good practice games against real opposition. Is there room for both Barrat and Arie?
Mike, what I’ve noticed so far is the usual long kicking to the goal square. Do you think this is to train specific plays or are we headed for another year where players don’t lower their eyes?!
- emphasis today was delivery into a congested forward 50, with Barrat and Arie receiving on multiple occasions to set up play with their footskills
- Travaglia prominent with his run & carry
- Keeler competing well up forward
- McLennan again prominent with his body positioning & one grab intercept marking
- Macrae such a smart player…will be a very important component in our midfield set up
- Hastie impressive, lovely mover and love his attitude
- O’Connell good again, his improvement in the 12 months since arriving here is amazing
- Ethan Williams from Sandy moves well & seems a good user
- Liam Henry not doing a lot yet but good to see him out on the ground
- Patrick Said has really good hands overhead & looks a very compact, small forward option
- Max Hall good again…one to watch for an early season debut
I’ve seen similar when down there. Great to see. He is on the nose here and externally, but when he’s up and about, his pace and aggression are very good. Macrae, Steele, Pou, Jones, Clark, Garcia, WindyPs Windy was just doing rehab - boy can he run - just glides over the turf - hopefully he can get a bit more of the pill this season as a midfielder. Great role model as a young guy.
Also was impressed with Jones - looks super fit - hopefully he gets a good injury run
They surly cannot be training for the long bomb , can they?Mike, what I’ve noticed so far is the usual long kicking to the goal square. Do you think this is to train specific plays or are we headed for another year where players don’t lower their eyes?!
Sorry to hear that, it is indeed an awful thing if you’ve got it bad.
Do you eat a lot of dairy? I not only had asthma back then but also chronic catarrh (which I’d had for about 4 years) and that also cleared up completely with the changes I made, in particular taking the immune stimulating herb echinacea.
I only took it to get Mum off my back suggesting I try it (to see if it would help with the CFS, not the catarrh) not expecting it to do anything, and within two weeks of taking it my catarrh was completely gone.
Blew my mind, and opened it up to the possibilities of what holistic treatments might be able to do to help.
If I went back to eating like I did as a kid though I have no doubt that the phlegm would return with a vengeance, and probably the asthma with it, especially if I went back to eating/drinking all the dairy I was then.
Something else I would recommend immensely to anyone with lung problems is an amino acid called NAC.
It’s actually been listed as a pharmaceutical since the 60’s- as it’s used in hospitals to treat certain pharmaceutical overdoses- and it’s also widely used to treat things like pneumonia, as it’s so good for treating the lungs.
I’ve read rumours that it was used intravenously in hospitals in the US to treat those with bad cases of Covid, again because that affected peoples lungs so badly, and there were at least 17 clinical trials being done on it during Covid as a potential Covid treatment option.
I had a bad cold or flu or whatever earlier this year and took NAC for the first time for that purpose and it was like a drying wind went through my body.
My nose has been running like a tap for hours on end and it was like someone just turned it off.
I’ve read so many reviews and comments by people online saying what a lifechanger it’s been for them, especially when there were rumours during Covid that it was going to be taken off the market, and available only as a pharmaceutical by prescription.
Serrapeptase is another substance that loads of people have found extremely helpful for lung issues.
Yes they were bombing it in after numerous short kicks as a build up from the back - but the instruction after the bomb to the big guys was knock it down and then the crumbers collected and either a handball or kick and then a shot on goal - it was a crumbing and execute drillThey surly cannot be training for the long bomb , can they?
after watching seb ross zac gilbert barrass and mcgovern for years,i dont mind the long bomb,if it gets intercepted ok,its a long bomb, but i wanna throw the remote through the screen when i witness barrass mcgovern and sicily eat intercept marks from supposed pinpoint passesThey surly cannot be training for the long bomb , can they?
You’d think Wilkie & Howard are locks so for balance only one would be inIs there room for both Barrat and Arie?
They do drills where players lead towards the ball carrier…today it was a slow build up & kicking into a congested front half, which does happen sometimes during games!Mike, what I’ve noticed so far is the usual long kicking to the goal square. Do you think this is to train specific plays or are we headed for another year where players don’t lower their eyes?!
Arie’s not great below the knees and not terribly agile…however if he’s got time & space his kicking is a real weapon!Looks to me they really want Arie to play and using him in the drills wherever possible. His fitness seems much improved - the question marks will be whether his speed and defensive craft can be exposed - hopefully he has some good practice games against real opposition.
Owens and Phillipou are much more upbeat compared to this time last year…Jones apparently has done a lot of boxing, hence his increased muscle mass in his arms & shouldersPs Windy was just doing rehab - boy can he run - just glides over the turf - hopefully he can get a bit more of the pill this season as a midfielder. Great role model as a young guy.
Last time I was at training Owens seemed very fumbly - he was very good today.
Also was impressed with Jones - looks super fit - hopefully he gets a good injury run
Mitch Owens has been working on his ball drop with his set shots…much lower drop now which his helping with his control boot to ball!Ps Windy was just doing rehab - boy can he run - just glides over the turf - hopefully he can get a bit more of the pill this season as a midfielder. Great role model as a young guy.

1 or 2 of those mids will likely be in the seconds along with Carroll, Boxshall, Dow & Hall…a bit of depth now!I’ve seen similar when down there. Great to see. He is on the nose here and externally, but when he’s up and about, his pace and aggression are very good. Macrae, Steele, Pou, Jones, Clark, Garcia, Windy
Pleasantly surprised to hear Keeler is doing so well in the running drills at this early stage of preseason. A little more size and confidence and there's a very real likelihood he'll be a bit of a game changer for our team. Really looking forward to what he may be able to provide in the coming seasons.
Agree with all of that - & has put on a bit of size so should be able to give Marshall a bit of a chop out. Though yesterday it was only Marshall, Dodson & Boyd doing ruck work drills at the end of training (with Lenny & Dodson hammering into each other - Lenny still going alright!)Keeler is the player who has the potential to leap frog us into the top echolon of the comp IMO. He just has star factor written all over him, as long as he does the work and keeps improving.
With his goal awareness, marking, ground level work and around the ground rucking, I believe he will become something very special.
Maybe let’s let him get one under his belt first, eh…Hopefully the penny has dropped - the question is how driven is he? Third year - he should be looking to string together say 8 to 10 AFL games (hopefully a few more)
Not convinced, as I know Keeler has some serious ability, but watching him at Sandy he looked to be one of those players who has all the party tricks but doesn't work hard enough and needs a lot more mental focus. The top players in the comp have the skills, but really have that drive above the shoulders to lift to the next level in games. 2025 season is make or break I reckon.Agree with all of that - & has put on a bit of size so should be able to give Marshall a bit of a chop out.
