Interesting, I mean, numbers look low considering our list profile and its years 1-4 or whatever. But I kinda find it strange the head of high performance isn’t at pre season for day 1. Surely there’s someone else who could of held his hand

Seems pretty straight forward. DeGoey there as patient and Wade there as student, for the future benefit of the whole squad.

He won't be there to hold his hand. It'll be professional learning for Wade.

Yep, completely understand an educational perspective. And I’m not really concerned about it.

But considering the strange decisions that the club has made in the last 12-18 months, I’m not sure they get a benefit of the doubt in my eyes that the person in charged of conditioning the entire playing group isn’t at day 1 of pre season. Especially when apparently the shortened off season and early schedule gave us problems last season

That's not good. We need him to be his explosive best.
Yeah not good, but not unexpected - OP can stick around and rest it the way to go. Hopefully they get on top of it.

He will have had the prescribed rest period and for all we know it might be good and this could just be about a program to reduce the likelihood of it returning. The issue is that his conditioning has probably dropped.

He has a whole department of people working to him. Like seriously Mustard, if he can't delegate appropriately we have bigger problems.

I'd also like to think Wade would be capable of sitting down for a few hours and writing a program for the fitness team to follow:

Day 1 mobility
Day 2 2km time trial for 1-4th years

Etc

Forgive my ignorance, but is JDG a bit old for having this OP problem? I thought it mainly affected younger footballers. Daniher had it for years - yes? - but threw it off as he got older.

It absolutely affected De Goey last year. I recall a game at the G where he literally couldn’t run. It was awful watching him so hampered.

Thank God he was apparently unaffected in 23 - a great year for him, including those super performances in the finals.

Or its simply the case this is the earliest we can send a player on a conditioning camp.
