Look out the media/oppo supporters are going to jump on the first photo
the old blokes Pendles and Sidey straining to take off while the young Will Hayes moves effortlessly
This narrative that we’re a team of fossils is a little bemusing. Everyone has tried to death ride Geelong for 15 years about the same thing. Such a lazy way of analysing a team

West has a decent frame. In some of the pressure drills, the way he was able to shrug off some experienced players was impressive. He'll fill out too, so promising.
Have to say i like the look of Charlie West as well Jen, seems to do a lot right

They’re Ticking the boxes at this point. Training houses down picks up in the next few weeks, then it’s a combination of training houses down and getting cherry ripe for round 1 from January onwards.
I recall last season the press were even saying how elite we were looking in preseason. Then the season started and basically never got going.

Pre-season week 4

Tuesday, December 3rd.

Big session this morning. Didn't finish until 11:45, which is close to a 3hr session in the heat and windy conditions.

The players that spent the last few days in NT were back for this morning's session.

Players included:

  • Lippa
  • IQ
  • Maynard
  • Elliott
  • Mitchell
  • Josh D
  • Houston
  • Pendles
  • Mcstay
  • Perryman
  • DeMattia
  • DC
  • Parker
  • Allan
  • Frampton
  • Fin
  • TJ
  • Smit
  • Steene
  • Sidey
  • Hill
  • Ryan
  • Crisp
  • Reef
  • Cochran
  • Membrey
  • West
  • Beau
  • WHE
  • Sullivan
  • Nick D
  • Markov
  • Hayes

  • Checkers
  • Long
  • Cox

* WHile Harrison was outside, doing some rehab work. Running. plus those bottle lifting things he has been doing lately.

Rehab group:

  • Harrison
  • Cochran
  • Parker

The later two did some non contact drills, then proceeded to do some running when the boys got into some contact work.

Jordy made an appearance, signing some stuff for some fans just under the scoreboard, then later saw him talk a walk across the oval Thought he was gonna do a run, but possibly going to he tan?

Lots of fundamental stuff happening today. Line group work including 1v1 fight, pressure drills, ball movement.

Josh D still training with the defenders, so it seems that'll be his role. Half back with stints on the wing? Maybe interchange with Perryman who seems to have a good tank too.

West has a decent frame. In some of the pressure drills, the way he was able to shrug off some experienced players was impressive. He'll fill out too, so this promising.

Fin performed strongly in the 1v1 drills even against IQ

Reef looking more and more at home in defence. He's taking this new role like a duck to water. Still early days, but signs are keeping on promising.

There was lots of running to be had, of course. Always in pre-season they flog them with the running, but it'll help them through the season when the games comes around.

Looks like Smit is training more forward with the forwards group while Steene is with the mids/rucks. Will be interesting to see how they operate together. I imagine they'll split time between both positions a bit like cameron/cox But at this point seems like Oscar is serving as he DC/#1 ruck, while Smit is the cox.

Thanks Jen, brilliant contribution.

Impressions from your snippets:

Bigboy Westy, looks Maynard size at 18 and is 6 cm taller. Hayes moves well. Smitt looks switched on and smooth for a big guy rookie. I thought TJ was floating beautifully. Good to see the younger guys not looking out of their depth.

On the other hand, DM looks hesitant, lacks composure. While it is early days, I have my doubts.

ND and Houston looked a step above, as to be expected, and Cameron looks sublime.

Do you know what's up with Parker?

Harrison is moving really well. I wonder if it was small tear and will be back sooner than expected.

Ive just realised our entire list will all be retired one day. Scary thought indeed
I can't believe we haven't yet recruited anyone to replace Charlie West. He can't play forever. It's shithouse planning.

That's exactly why we would should delist him now.

It's entirely a set-up for if we struggle next year. The likes of Ralph, Edmund, Cornes, even Niall would have articles/show content about "too old, too slow Pies" already saved in the drafts.

No idea who DM is so I went to the Club website to try and work it out.
Really poor that we still have ex players listed there
