At the end of the regular season it felt like we were just making up the numbers and didn't have it in us to compete against the real finals teams and that maybe we had missed our window.

Then we beat the Tigers and that was great but we had beaten them before and it was at home and we were literally staring into the face of Hell to come.

Then we beat the Demons who had so humiliated us during the season (twice) and at the MCG yet and suddenly we feel like real contenders, that our window is opening wider (not slamming shut) not just with our better performance and current team selection but also our trade news coming in.

Tonight we take on the Cats and there is little doom or gloom about the place - we are in it and have a good chance to win it and how glorious it would be to not just win but to actually take them apart (maybe finally finally hitting that cliff everyone has been expecting them to hit for what a decade now?).

Go Lions and make this a GF where we don't have to choose a team to support (or anti support) because WE ARE IN IT!!!

I'm still surprised at the narrative around the Cats. Without question they are a solid outfit, but the pundits are talking up their amazing second half of the season, which consisted of just one top 8 team (and 8th placed Bulldogs at that). I know it's still not easy to win that many games in a row, but I don't think it's actually what defines them as a great side. Every stat that is being talked about them (scoreboard, defensive etc) is being based on those games. But good, we're thriving on underdog status so let it keep coming. Looking forward to being the underdog vs Magpies/Swans.
