Play well tonight boys as these opportunities don't come around very often.
Geelong deserve to be favourites tonight having won 13 straight but i doubt players from both teams think along those lines

I would not underestimate the lingering fatigue effect covid had on the Lions form from round 10
However the Richmond & Melbourne games see the Lions playing their best footy of 2022.
So, hopefully any covid lingering fatigue looks a thing of the past

It will take a 4 quarter pressure game similar to last week
You must make every opportunity count. No missing sodas directly in front of goal
Misses in the first quarter are just as important as the last few minutes

We need to tick off one more box on Fagans board tonight

Bold of my employer to assume any work will be done by me today.

Mate, you're probably entitled to OVERTIME - doubtless you've had bugger all sleep, been dissecting the footy since before dawn and will be putting in a 4 quarter effort this evening for another few hours! :D

Herculean is how I'd describe that effort :)

Covid Smovid........we r ready to inflict 4qtrs of amazement.

Is there a general place that’s best for post game. We usually go a bar a friend owns or royal derby, but would love to be with plenty of lions fans post game assuming a positive result

Our two best halves of footy this year have been at the MCG......

I'm absolutely loving the fact the media have all but written us off yet again.

David King: "I think the Cats win and I think they'll win pretty well"

Sam Edmund: "I'd like to think the Lions make a good account of themselves, but I can't see Geelong losing this game"

Nick Riewoldt: "The Lions need to go to another level if they want to win. They're the outlier side of the four that are left" (not the Pies who are 0-4 against the remaining three teams, had a significantly lower percentage than the other three, and won less quarters than the remaining three)

Geelong have struggled in preliminary finals in the past and while they're clearly a great side, we've built up some nice momentum and have matched up pretty well against them recently (much better than we have against the Tigers or Dees). All we need to do is be within striking distance at 3qt and this game is ours for the taking.

If we do win, I'm 100% confident the media and betting companies will have us as underdogs against a side we beat head to head this season. Watch this space.

Day leading into the Richmond game, nervous wreck. During the game, gibbering mess.

Day leading into the Melbourne, surprisingly calm, happy to have made it this far. During the game, literally shaking.

So far leading up to tonight, calm and confident. Excitement starting to build. Tonight, who knows, probably should have a defibrillator nearby.

Good Luck Lions Fans.

GO LIONS!!!

The young Lion stopped to drink of the cool water of the stream, running through a dark, damp forest.

He was tired, lost and alone. It had been so long since he had eaten that hunger had become a heavy emptiness that pained him.

As he lowered his head, he heard a voice from the other side of the stream.

"Where are you going, little Lion?" spoke Old Lion, watching the cub, for even the oldest Lion was but a cub to Old Lion.

"I don't know", answered the young Lion. He peered at Old Lion, sitting regally on the yonder bank. Glistening, primal, powerful.

"Perhaps you need to find your Pride, no?". The Old Lion sat up on his haunches, muscles rippling from flank to nose.

As young Lion paused to reply, the Old Lion shimmered and faded.

Young Lion pondered, thinking how he could find other Lions. Until at last, in agony from hunger and despondent over his loneliness, he roared in desperation.

And from around him, the silence of the forest gave rise to answering roars, some close by, some faint.

He roared repeatedly, moving towards the sounds.

Over time, he found others and together they began to hunt and kill, but they needed a proving ground, an arena in which to prove to themselves that they were a Pride.

And together, the Young Lions strode free of the dark forest and they realised they weren't alone.

They looked from high upon a green vista stretching as far as the eye could see. Animals of all kinds roamed freely.

The Young Lions looked upon the scene and knew in their Pride that all below them were prey.

And were happy.

I have a very simple way of evaluating things. The way I see it we made some changes going into Richmond game and took learnings from that and made further changes in game style and personnel for Demons game. During Demons game we made further changes at half time. We are on the rise and are a better team each week we play (personnel, style, pressure). This week we change Fullerton and Fort with Joe and Big O. Two upgrades in my opinion (however, fort did a great job against Demons and Fullerton played his role).
In contrast I think Geelong have stagnated. Same personnel and 13 wins means no need to change.
As long as we take all the good from last two games and improve a little bit more again I think we will win. FWIW if Melbourne had of beaten us last week they probably go into this match at mcg as favourites - or pretty close to it! Not despised outsiders like us.

Looking forward to the game, think we’re a much better show than what most of the media has given us.
Haven’t had time to go through the preview thread, so may have been discussed but my thoughts are.

Our recent record against Geelong isn’t too bad, losing the Bailey holding the ball game last year by a point, then beating them the following game by 44. The lost by 10 points down at GMBHA seems a good result considering their considerable home ground advantage. This also included a Hawkins goal in the final 10mins where Harris was blatantly pushed in the back. We should be holding no fears that we can’t beat them at our best.

Melbournes was the ideal lead up to the game, with their defense setting up so well for those hacked kicks forward, a real symbol of how Geelong play. Our ball movement greatly improved for that 20mins mark in the first quarter, where Rich finally went the opposite side of the ground from the kick out. Hopefully continue that style of player as it will give us the best chance to catch Geelong defense out.
Stewart needs to be held accountable, with our forward line being one of our strength, there’s shouldn’t be any easy match up for him. I’m expecting SDK > Daniher, Oliver > Hipwood, Kolo (if named) > McStay, Bews > Charlie. That leaves Stewart to Rayner/Bailey or Linc.

Hawkins is a worry without Adam’s, I think Andrew gets the job and Gardiner goes to Cameron. Rohan can be a barometer/kick starter for Geelong and as such Starce has another important matchup. Stengle hasn’t really proformed against the stronger teams yet but still looks dangerous, seems like a likely match up for Answerth. When Danger rest forward, we will no doubt re-shuffle to accommodate his presences.

Midfield will be a large decider in this match, hopefully Lachie doesn’t get a heap of attention and works through it like he has been. Dev played a very good role last year on Selwood, and wouldn’t surprise me if he manned him again. Guthrie and Duncan also very important for Geelong setting themselves up.
Big O has a big night a head of him, especially in the Geelong forward 50 where Hawkins monstering Ruckwork has really hurt us in the past.

For me our pressure is the key, turn it on like we did last week and we will look alright.
Definitely feel like we’re in this more than the 3.60 margin the bookies have us at.
