I'll be parking near Harris Park (I used to live there, it's a heaps safer place to leave a car than other suburbs near Spotless) and catching a train in.

Nooooo. Would have been great to hang out with you HK. I'll PM you on Saturday before the game if no one else messages me about my remaining ticket (cost price of $85 in case anyone is still without a ticket) so you can at least improve your viewing angle and sit in a Doggies section.
Cheers Rookie
Going with my friend and my son so can't leave them. Not sure they'll buy the 'the Dogs are in the Finals!!!!' excuse.

Shits people when opposition posters do it on our board, it's just as annoying for other boards. Just shitty form.

What about when your comments are perfectly reasonable and not designed to antagonise and one or two posters throw their toys out of the cot regardless of the olive branch extended to them.

Just found some tickets with virgin from MEL to SYD 11:30 $335. The return flight on Sunday 12:25 $335. Cheapest I have seen so far. Qantas is fu..k expensive and I'm not taking the risk with Jetstar (almost the same price). Have you guys seen anything cheaper than this?

Then those people are bitches.

By the way is anyone going up there, staying in the cbd and thinking of getting the parramatta ferry there? I heard this was an option and might be more fun than the train.
Also how far is the walk from the wharf to the showgrounds?
See the Meet up thread. I am hoping to go to Pyrmont Fish Market for a feed (great food!) then head to Circular Quay (ps George Street is completely closed and the normal George St buses are rooted). I hope to catch a ferry with a train as a back up. The walk is probably well under thirty minutes

F3 Ferry Details (picks up at Darling Harbour as well) see tp.transportnsw.info
F3 Ferries depart Circ Quay at 07 and 37 past the hour and take just an hour (I am looking at 14:07 / 14:37).
It is 3.5km to The Brewery or 2.6km to the Zeno Stadium and there are some buses .

It's not often you get to cruise to the stadium. DM me for further Libba39

Hey guys good luck. Just thought i would mention when i went up for our final last week. I just walked to mascot station from sydney airport. Was only 10mins i think and avoided paying the airport rip off train tax

Cheers for updating the meet-up thread too, would be unreal if the club could do something pre- or post-game.

Sold my extra ticket to a bloke in Sydney for cost price. Hope he's one of ours.

Phew. All settled now.

Well done. I still have a cat 1 ticket to sell. It's a great seat on wing, aisle 201 row G. Starting to get a bit worried I might not be able to sell it now.

Probably closer to 15, but an easy enough walk if the weather is nice. Not a bad idea to save a bit of coin especially if there are multiple travellers in the group.

I have a spare ticket due to the ticketmaster confusion. Happy to give it away. You will be sitting next to me and my missus.

We are driving up on Friday afternoon, staying in Holbrook (4.5 hours from Sydney).

You can come with us if you book a motel in Holbrook. We're at the Byer Fountain Motel ($85).

Plan is to drive to Campbelltown and take the train from there. Will avoid all the parking and crush.

Return trip we'll probably stay in Goulborn and get an early start Sunday for the VFL grandfinal.

The ticket is a PDF so I can email it to anyone interested,

I got rid of mine through gumtree, emailed it through to Sydney. I had a couple of people interested. Good luck

I had two extra tickets because of the Ticketmaster confusion. Started to think I wouldn't be able to sell them so I sent a message on facebook to Ticketmaster complaining

Got a full refund :) It was very easy, would suggest it to anyone who got extra tickets and can't get rid of them.

I have 4 tickets. A group of friends of mine purchased them and wont be able to go. On the wing $180 each which is what they paid. Row G section aisle 201.
PM if interested

I have 2 tickets that I'm sorry to say I can't use for Saturday. I've signed up here to offer them as I'd rather the tickets go to anyone here that's desperate that may not have tickets. Both tickets I bought for $65 each and would sell them for the same. Drop me a PM if interested. Seats are next to each other and ground level in the pocket of the dogs cheer squad end.

I quoted the figures to show the abject failure of the strategy. The simple fact is that GWS have virtually no support in the area it was created to draw support from. The money wasted on this marketing exercise by the AFL is a scandal. The money could have been spent on developing the kids out west. I work in a voluntary capacity with the Congolese refugee community and I can tell you there are more Aliir's out here if they can be supported and nurtured. But no these kids and other poor kids struggle for support from the AFL and meanwhile the money has been spent on Folau (remember him) and a bunch of first round picks from Victoria and the southern states. GWS even if they win a flag or two will never win over people in the west of Sydney because there has been no real grass roots development. But put your orange cap on and ignore reality. As for my right to talk I am a South Melbourne supporter for sixty years living in NSW so I have every right to talk about a club and its traditions.

By quoting the demographics of Western Sydney, not to mention the extra million people that will live there by 2036, you've outlined exactly why the AFL were right in creating the club.
I can remember sitting in a crowd of 7,000 at the SCG watching the Swans in the early 90's so you're hardly in a position to talk.
As a North person the no supporters jibes wear a little thin, and frankly I would have thought Doggies fans would get this as well.

Good luck on Saturday!
I agree with this. Having been a supporter for years, we've copped it heaps regarding our membership base and crowd numbers so I'm uncomfortable using that line when the shoes on the other foot.
Glad you guys brought it up. I was going to do the same.
Let's move on to some wittier and slightly less hypocritical jibes. That one's getting a bit tired.

You are the supporter of a club that is struggling to survive and you think its a good idea fro the AFL to create another club!! As for the Bloods see my post above.

Sounds like you need some Sheedy positive reinforcement....

This looks attractive, and possibly better than stopping at Campbelltown. Thanks for the suggestion.
Some questions:

Is there ample parking at Harris Park station?
Do the trains run direct to whatever station (?) is closest to Soulless Stadium, or do I have to change trains? What line is it?
Someone mentioned an Opal card is required to travel on the train, even with a game ticket making it no cost. Is that correct? If so where do I get them? I hope I can get them at the station itself and don't have to stop somewhere on the drive up.

I'm planning to get away fairly soon after the game and get home to Canberra before midnight (lots planned for Sunday). If there's post-game celebrating to be done it'll probably continue all week anyway!
