Honest Review - Round 1
Old Ivanhoe vs Parkdale at Parkdale

Ground Conditions were perfect with a 3 goal wind going to the southern end.

OI with 5 players playing for the first time combined with another 4 players who played less than 3 games in 2022. Also featuring 4 under 19’s.

Parkdale had a couple of new players, one from SFL and other from VAFA.

In the 1st Qtr Parkdale kicked with the wind and Hoes gifted Parkdale 3 goals via basic skill errors and a poor tackle. Hoes missed some easy shots but went into the 1st break up a couple of points.

In the 2nd, Hoes used the wind well to kick 4 goals, but Parkdale wrestled the momentum, with Hoes again gifting no. 21 another goal.

Then the rain came, not heavy, but make conditions tricky. Hoes won the game in the 1st 12 minutes of the quarter by holding out Parkdale. The higher bodies of Parkdale were proving advantageous in the wetter conditions.

Going into the last quarter, the score was almost level.

The last quarter saw Parkdale’s discipline wane resulting directly in 2 goals.

Hoes held on for an important away win.

No apparent injuries for both teams.

Great after match.

On a side note, when do we see two promoted teams win and win so well.

Fair summary, but Naish kept OI in the game. Pretty handy player and will obviously be a problem for opposition.
