If true they are back then well done Bernard's. Harvey a genuine gun before he left and in his prime got prime $ in edfl. Clarke the mercurial 6ft 2in midfielder annd utilty before they became normal. Great gets to add to their young mix.

Harvs was great 8 years ago. Recent years would see him a CGrade Ammos or A Grade Ressies player. Considine battles. A goal a game and zero games in best players highlights this. Will not play a senior game. Clarke is good.

The bernies have proved to be a quality young side this year and with these names added to there list, They are definitely a team on the rise. bring on next season i say :footy:

Looks like Uni Blues are going for the quick fix, they will be damn strong if they can stay on the park.

Big Footy is hardly something a club would avoid. No advantage / disadvantage etc has ever been had here. Harmless banter. Xavs and Coll are jumping at shadows if they worry about a post on here.

I dont disagree, this site is hardly "a minefield" for competing VAFA clubs. And yes it is just banter, to and fro.Its good to hear what people have to say. My point is that Xavs and Coll are two clubs that keep their cards close to their chest between seasons, keep things in house. As for "jumping at shadows" I think these two clubs would be the least most likely to in any format.

News coming out of de la is that quiet a few quality players will be missing. J.moloney, shields, pickett, kelliher, eddy and L.Harrison. Even with croad surely too much experience and quality to be top four??

Some truth to some of this but to clarify:

Harrison playing is my mail. Guess we will have to wait and see. Pickett travelling and back before mid year. Eddy a VFL player and only played a handful of games late in 2012 when recovering from an ACL. No surprises he will in VFL or SANFL colors in 2013. Kelliher retired in 2011. Came back and played half a year in the seniors. Body shot so has hung them up again. Moloney likewise barely played over the last 2 seasons and very much hampered by injury. A good player (and even better bloke). Will be missed but plenty of quality young mids coming through. Shields will be a big loss but don’t be surprised if he plays.

Plenty of positive news from ‘The Bell’. Watch for some great young talent pushing up from the U19 Premiership team. A few good recruits and some returning from injury. Damien Hale was about the best young player in the comp a few years back is now injury free and will tear it up in 2013. Gun young defender Tom Humphrey who was linked to Port Melbourne has decided to play another season for the Blue and Gold.

Harrison back to kilkunda bass for plenty. Still questions over the ruck department with kelliher and seconds ruck both not playing. It did cost them a gf birth with kelliher going down in the prelim. No doubt they have great depth and youth but a quality 25 yr players will always put a young pup to the sword when it counts.

Interesting about Harrison but hardly a 25 year old, nor is Kelliher or Moloney. He is north of 30 and coming off a knee reco. Must be plenty of money to throw around in the bush. Very surprised by that one and will wait and see how it pans out.
You are on the money about the ruck stocks being a problem last year and yes when Kelliher went down in the prelim it changed the game. Hopefully the clubs best ruckmen Sam Nethersole is back from OS but if not some young pup will have to step up. Still plenty to like about the young Ds I reckon.

Unsubstantiated but news on WRFL board that Damien Yze has left Old Carey for Div 2 side Glenorden. Have also heard that Fiorenza playing at Templestowe. Anyone from the Panthers able to confirm or deny? Some good ins at Carey but they seem to be balanced with rumoured losses of a few big names.

To be honest I’m not so sure that someone like Yze who changes clubs so regularly does much for the fabric of a club. I’m tipping Carey to be thereabouts come the pointy end of the season.

No surprise Rooster. Damien Yze, nice guy and extremely talented but does nothing for nothing. I was completely shocked when he landed in the ammo's as I don't think there has been a cricket or footy season where he hasn't been renumerated for his services. I think one year of not being paid would have been enough for him.

Should it be correct that he is on the move, I dont doubt your sentiments re: DY being a good guy and talented but his is a classic example of what an "up and coming young team" dont need. One season wonders, never have and never will deliver the benefits or meet the expectations of the club concerned.

Can we come up with a team on one year wonders that have graced the VAFA.

D Yze OC
A.Tranquilli Marc
A Lord everyone
B. Tremellin OI

to name a few!

Not being paid! Your kidding aren't you? He's a mercenary 'Nothing for Nothing'.

Well I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt, but now that "Steppinup" has thrown down the gauntlet and made a clear inference, what is the opinion of other "posters"?

Surely they would not bother breaching rules and risking ridicule for a bloke in his mid 30s who is well past his best. Was only ever going to stay for 1 or maybe 2 years at best. With all due respect to D. Yze there are more credentialed players both in and out of the VAFA far more deserving of getting a buck than him. IMO he was not even in their best 5 or 6 last year. Certainly behind Howitt, Rowe, Fremantle and a few others.

My understanding was that Carey found him some work and the deal was linked with his brothers gig as a coach at Hawthorn & Box Hill to which the Carey hierarchy have strong ties.

Just to clarify – I stated this was unsubstantiated so until someone from OC or the reputed new club confirm I guess it is all just speculation.

Obviously the Hawthorn ties not that strong if A.Yze is also on the way to Glenorden with his brother, and going to sign a 10 game contract as his Hawthorn duties won't allow any more than that.

I would say the Yze tie is not strong. D.Yze would be coming to the end of his career and would be looking for some coin after the work fell through. Ammos can offer work but not stand alone coin.
That said, he was good for Carey last year winning the Ammos Coleman. Not saying Carey would have gone down without him, but a very handy 1 year player when the FF and CHF had season ending injuries early on.
