Correct. FWIW OS will knock of Bernies this week, with UB and Bernies locking in double chance they can afford to "rest" players. Cracking set of games left, expecting a bit of bite out of StB, De La and OB to avoid relegation. No games set in stone yet!
I just think St Bedes are done. But De La and OB will be playing for Premier sheepstations this next 3 weeks.

I agree. I just think this week is MASSIVE for Scotch and they are a huge chance against Bernards.

Interesting that Caven and Merrington did not play for Bernards last weekend. Clearly focused on player management. Like OBs lately with Kruse and Hogan. And both sides still winning well.

Cant agree......Stop Barlowe, Stops OS. Bernies have the runners and the muscle to go with him. Nulify him and they are in trouble.
He is the "go to" man when they struggle. Bernies have the forwards and runners to get it down there for ample opport. The biggest problem Bernies will have is the OS ground, its the size of a "hankey' A good running team will end up in Camberwell rd........

St Bedes Mentone forfeiting to Xavs in the Ressies - what you couldn't drag a few juniors out of their game or convince a few old-timers to pull on their boots in times of need? D4 Ressies Chadstone got done by 51 goals but they still had the decency to put a team out on the park. Feel for Xavs who miss out on a run so close to the finals. What should be the appropriate punishment for such an act? The Club go directly to Premier C? Have the Ressies play D4 next year?

That is extraordinary news. How an A-Grade team cannot have 44 senior players is beyond me. Are the missing many through injury or a people just jumping ship? They have effectively gone from five teams two years ago to only being able to field two. How does this affect them for next year? Will more players leave if they are no longer playing A-Grade?

Unprecedented occurrence for an ‘A’ grade team, particularly one that played in a senior GF and won the 19 Premier div flag last year. St Bedes a good club who would extremely embarrassed by this. My understanding is that at the start of the season they had around 70 senior players on the books and actually nominated a 3rds team. When the 3s were pulled all the excess players drifted away. When the inevitable injuries and travel kicked they had no ‘fat’ left and this is was the outcome. I suppose that had they seen this coming they might have arranged for their 19s to play at 9.20am rather than 2.00pm and top up that way but it seem that this all unfolded Saturday morning and to late to make those changes. Looking at seniors result they managed to run the form team of the comp to within a couple of goals and despite some big absences they have obviously got the foundations of a solid senior team.

Rumour has it??

St.Bedes seniors
Had the brothers missing due to wedding. The Oakleigh boys
Had 4-5 players taken by VFL affiliates on Friday night
Had 1-2 players pull out on Friday due to injury.

Could have won the seniors, but for a poor 15 minutes.

On another note the "NOBS" name will no longer been seen in the VAFA from 2015.

Also proves the 3rd's concept is not working.

How many walk overs this weekend.

3rd's should play 14-16 rounds in line with Club XVIII. He's a radical idea, why not expand the Club XVIII.

what do you mean?

NOBS originated from the Old St Josephs College in North Melbourne which closed its doors as few years back and for the decade prior to its closing the demographic did not really lend itself to recruitment of footballers. Notwithstanding past players and current committee who are still involved there are very few St Joes boys actually playing at the club and within a few years there will be none. As I understand it NOBS committee looks set to change name to reflect its location – Perhaps Brunswick Amateurs or Brunswick / St Pats OB.

Where are Bernards at after last sat performance?

Any reasons for it or OS just to good on the day?

a truckload of players out

just tapering their run to the first final. sure you want to win but would read nothing into the los

If you can it makes good sense to manage your list this time of year. Bernies have had 2nd spot stitched up for while now and a few of their older players will certainly benefit from a rest before finals. (I really hope they ‘manage’ Jones, Bentick, Sullivan, Caven and a few others this week!)

On another note re NOBS – those from the ACC system will remember what a strong football school St Joeys was through the 70s and early 80s. Bloody strong ammo club also.

Bernards played 2 debutantes on the weekend (one being a u/19's player) and had some other players rested, the list has certainly been managed over the last couple of weeks, you would think coming into the last round against Uni Blacks they would have a close to full strength side in.

No Merrington. Was he injured?

Mmm, I wonder how will that gell with the former NOB Old Boys, incl some senior VAFA Execs, and also with those associated with the former Brunswick Amateurs (1926-1994, and Brunswick Power 1999-2003).

Playing one of the bottom teams on your home deck you would want to hope you would hard to beat.
Considering De La beat them earlier on this year proves anything is possible!

De La’s only away victory was against OB in Rd 3. Both sides 5 goals better at home and with a strong side team in you would expect Snowdogs to win by north of 10 goals. De La smacked both times this year by Blacks and Scotch
