Reading the names starting to show up on the Xavs team sheet. They are starting to get a good team together. For mine, on paper, player for player...more talented than any other. Time will tell.
yes it will. though yesterday's results mean we have 7 rounds left and only 2 games separate 10th from 4th. And Xavs find themselves 1 game from relegation and 1 from the 4! Beauie all of a sudden look very shaky to me. New recruit from The Recruit kicked 3 yesterday and they still could not get over OB. With things so tight there will be no easy games for anyone - not even Blacks or Bernard's.

All Posters, this friday night at the Harry Trott, UNDER LIGHTS. Coll V OB with a 7.30 start!
May well be wrong, but is this first night game for the VAFA (not at headquartgers) staged between
two A Grade clubs?............
Weather permitting, it should be a good spectacle. Worth a look.

Haven't been to the Trott for a while due to the parking - or lack of it.

since there has not been much chat here lately. i thought i may as well get it going again....what is everyones opinions on this? http://www.vafa.com.au/index.php?id=219&tx_ttnews[year]=2014&tx_ttnews[month]=07&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=1457&cHash=a97b45e91ca832d0f656515f671b19c8
A really interesting piece.....Kruse is a gun, as is Sullivan.....and an interesting perspective as it's the senior coaches voting.....plenty of high quality names and 15 of the top 30 from UB, Bernards, OT - seems to make sense as a form indicator with those better teams this year having the most influential (best) players

Agree. A great initiative and all the best players featured, including a number of KPP’s who tend to get overlooked when umpires give votes. Only one from my club (DLS). He has been a standout and obviously rated highly by the coachers but as a defender is unlikely to poll in the Woodrow.

6 rounds to go. Scotch win yesterday really keeps the fight for 4th place interesting. OT struggling with some players away but there last 6 games have 3 bankable wins. So they stay 3rd for mine. Beauie form line stinks - they won't play finals. So, that leaves Scotch, Collegians and Xavs fighting for 4th. Xavs play Bernards and UB next 2 weeks = season defining? Xavs then have OT round 17 with the 3 bottom teams also still to play. Scotch and Collegiand only play UB or Bernards once more. And round 18 Scotch v Collegians could be a mini elimination final. Who nabs that 4th spot and a likely 1st semi versus OT? Thoughts welcome.

Xavs. And then go all the way. Lethers will be celebrated as the king. The man who achieved the impossible. Red and black streamers will fall from the sky adb all will be back to normal in Ammos footy.

Witnessed Dela getting smashed by Blacks yesterday. Blacks with one hand on the cup one would think. A Uni supporter also told me that their neighbour Uni Blues are under investigation over player payments. May need big Gill from the head office of football to help em sort it out. Not sure the VAFA would be too keen to upset the Blues connections at Docklands.

De La's side looked very depleted….I am not sure Blacks dismantled much in the way of an opponent, did they?

Canada, tell us all your pulling our collective legs???

De La’s player absences are well documented however they have still managed to win 4 games this year, which included St Bernards who are 2nd and Beaumaris who at the time were 4th. The team that was indeed dismantled by Blacks was probably stronger than the team that managed to knock off St Bernards and based on what I have seen Blacks have an extra gear that the other teams don’t. No disrespect to the others in contention but if Blacks play anywhere near their best I can't see them being beaten.

Of course...streamers falling from the sky. That's just silly. Despite what the Weathers Girls told us in the 80's, rain is all that really falls from the sky.

Whilst it would've seemed a bit far fetched 6 weeks ago, funnier things have happened. Xavs are building momenteum and if they continue and get into the 4 then with their experience they are most definitely a threat. The history of winning over the last 20 years and the fact losing isn't acceptable means that the culture to suceed is there.

Do I think they will win it again? No.
Are they a realistic threat if they can make finals? Yes.

Top Four is now set in my opinion........From what I have seen its Blacks to lose. Top two are set obviously and it would be unlikely for the hedge burners to drop 3rd. Its up to Scotch to hold or hand back 4th position IMO. They don't play Xavs again. Theoretically, with games plus percentage Xavs would need to win all six games to claim the 4th spot. Not impossible, but unlikely. They play the top three in the next three weeks. If they can win two if not three of them, look out comp because they come home with the bottom three. If they don't then attention will turn to round 18, Colls versus Scotch who both have superior percentage to fight out the final spot in the four, which is the most likely equation.

The bottom of the table looks equally as intriguing. Beauy's freefall looks likely to continue this week but have probably done enough to survive. De La's percentage looks like it will not bode well for them in the run home. Be a huge fall from grace should they fall from the top tier. But time will tell. Good sides have been known to rally in the past.

Couldn't agree more re: top 3 set - although I'm still wary to write off Xavs just yet. More than capable of a win Vs Bernies this weekend which would really open the door.

Xavs are coming.....

But not making up any ground as Scotch and Collegians keep winning. With % they are essentially 2 games behind Scotch and with just 5 to play it is unlikely they can make that up. The only side possibly capable of troubling the top 2 teams will be looking on in September.

They will not lose again this year. Whether that means 5th or a flag we will just have to wait and see.
