Will James "old balls" tyquin play this week?
Don't think they can win without him
Will this b his last year?

With or without him. No chance.
Sir Dowd, The Gysbert, a Salopek double, Gilham, big Lynchy...
SKOB could choke and still win by 10 goals.

C'mon chaps. Lets have a go at picking some odds for going up, winning the thing etc.

SKOB must be favourite but given my bias I wont set the odds.

Reckon OM will win with relative ease against Brighton. Seem to have lost a few mid year; turned it over too often on the weekend. OM: 3.50 to win it 2.50 to go up. OB $10 to win it, $7.50 to go up.

St Bede's are a really good team. Very talented running side. Finals venue should suit. $2.00 to go up. $2.50 to win it.

Tell me how wrong I am!!

SKOBs should be very nervous. Undefeated in home and away season means anything other than a flag is a failure. SBMT have won the last 7 in a row - admittedly this isn't quite 18 in a row - so could surprise. Should be a very tense week...

Think your odds are out of whack. If SBMT were to lose the second semi, at worst, on their form, they would be quoted in the mid $1 mark or lower to win the prelim. And that is all they need to do to go up. Accordingly, they should be shorter than that to go up with a bite of the cherry this week too.

That being said, here is a potential book of premiership odds
SKOB 1/3
SBMT 4/1
OM 6/1
OB 8/1

That gives an overround of about 120% which is about right...

SKOB $1.20
STBM $3.90
OM $12.00
OB $15.00
St Kevins would have to be the shortest priced favourite to win a premiership in recent times. But they would be best advised to remember what happened to Beaumaris in 1998. The Sharks would've been around $1.10 to win the C Section premiership prior to the finals. They won the 2nd semi quite convincingly, yet lost to Hampton Rovers in a major upset.

One can only hope, Jase.:)

I heard on the catholic grapevine that last night's training at SKOB was cancelled and Jon Edgar pulled out the old VHS recorder and they watched that very same game Jase.

Genius!

With their finals (non-)performances of the last few years and losing GFs (their A Grade choke to the Mighty Eagles in 2001 the highlight), not sure SKOBs need to look outside their own organisation for examples of a favourite producing an underwhelming effort in finals.

This is just factually incorrect. SKOB came from 3rd that year beating Uni Blues & Bernies to make the GF against the Eagles who finished on top. GF was then ruined by a hurricane blowing to the scoreboard end. Eagles kicked 6 with it in the first qtr and the game was over. Let's not mention Eagles recent finals record while we are at?
I'll pass on everyone elses well wishes and advice when I head down to the club tonight!
Go SKOB!

Oh, sorry - I guess that was a final the SKOBs should have lost, and they did, which makes it ok? So should I apologise for including it with other finals they shouldn't have lost. Or should they have lost them too? It's just so darn hard to keep track.

Tutto,
Is it true that the club has made a big thing of not talking about their recent choking history? That the coach has asked everyone involved, both on and off the field to not mention it as it was starting to become a distraction earlier in the week. Interesting if the pressure is starting to be felt...

Ok thanks champ, didn't realise every loss you have in a final is a choke which you said happened in 2001. I'll tune in again on Monday for some more pearls of wisdom, where you can pick your next easy target.

It does make it tough when the club history webpage refers to an "...almost inevitable losing Grand Final...".

Genuinely this page has become obsessed with SKOB losing finals. It seems the whole blog is a bunch of people waiting/hoping SKOB loses. Surely that is more than a little pathetic. I get the enjoyment in seeing opposition fail (richmond use to finish 9th, Collingwood losing GFs is all good fun but at least try to add something). Tutti makes a point which is completely reasonable (although I think that it was Xavs then Bernards..ending Xavs run...what a day that was!!!) and is met with a ridiculous response consisting of "I cant be bothered doing any research".

Additionally the comparison between this team and the past is a little stretched, clearly this is a different kettle of fish. SKOB has not finished top in the last 10 years and certainly never gone 18-0. The idea that we have had all conquering teams that suddenly stopped when September began is not quite accurate. That not withstanding the finals record is terrible and going out in straight sets of numerous times hurts. Hoping for the best on Saturday..certainly it will be nervous times. As I have said previously. Bedes are a terrific team and I expect a close one. MIO out for the month.

I think you'll find nobody gives a sh#t to be quite honest as half of them weren't there. But please, don't let that stop you all from having some fun. Salary cap for next year, we hope to crack the $1mil mark, make that $2mil if Danger becomes available

Nothing like a points system to stuff that up and lets hope it does come in
