From EDFL thread. No idea if true. Would be a BIG recruit for Bernards.....

Hearing rumours Jack McNamara also on the way out. Wants to head back to St Bernards. Owed plenty from Abers and pushing for a transfer.

And Tristan Cartledge returning to Snakepit apparently with move back to Melbourne from interstate.

Losses though include Tom Sullivan (to athletics I believe), Boyse, Peart, Kazuro (all EDFL). Quality gone there.

Mcleod and Simon Caven not playing VFL so full time with Bernards. Both State VAFA players in past.

Nothing much to report from out Nodder way.
Will lose a couple of premiership players to overseas travel but will pick up Tom Warby full time from about Round 3. They expect to get natural improvement from their very young list.
After seeing them last year, they were a mile off B Grade standard so it will an interesting year for them.

A bit of life to the thread...
Maplebet has been smashed with people tipping Snowdogs, Panthers and finger biscuits to be top 3.
Absolutely smashed.
This trio is into $1.40 to finish 1-3 in any order.
It's unprecedented. I'm a little in shock to be honest.
Will be interesting to see if any $ comes for anyone else..

Snowdogs and Panthers for the Flag. OS and OB to be the next best....

OS would be thinking they will partake in the "Big Dance" come
the end of year, but i have my doubts.....

The flow of $$ suggests you are on the mark FF. Or should I call you Tom Brady...

Round 1 Old Carey v Old Scotch on the carpet at Bulleen. What a start to the season.

MAZ v ST BERNIES
MONASH BLUES v AJAX
PARKDALE v FITZROY
PENINSULA v BRIGHTON.

Need to save up my petrol money for this season. A few road trips.

does anyone have any information on how the cardinals are shaping up?

Scotchies are pumped. Have heard around the water cooler that numbers are big. A very successful training camp at Metung recently held with nice numbers. All the 'stars' are back, Bull, Hill, Van Hyphen..plus a few imported likely sorts.
Tend to agree with Tom Brady that they will sneak into the 4 at best.

Edit: Saved Canada a day off - OTP

thankyou for that information mr canada.

things are looking up for the cardinals then.

you are in possession of a lot of information about the v.a.f.a and the clubs in general , how are you able to get all this information?

Yes the Cardinals are looking ok. All involved at Scotch see themselves playing A Grade in 2018. I'm less sure.
I hear most of my information at places like the Orrong, Bush Inn, Geebung, Skinny Dog and Harp Hotel.
For a beer in the hand is always worth two in the bush...

As stated previously...OS very unlikely to go up. If J Bull is their only "standout player" they will have no hope..

I agree that they are unlikely to go up..but they will be thereabouts.
It's B Grade..not A. They have good numbers and are a big strong APS School. Sure they wear red tracksuit pants, but that doesn't mean we should just dismiss them straight out!
Van Den Broek, Lachie Hill, Tim MacMillan...plenty of stand out players other than Bull.

Yes, but Bull is the no1. target who the opposition hit on.....McMillan only one up there (just) with Bull...

Popped in for a cleanser post work yesterday at a watering hole where a couple of Cardinals and a couple of Panthers were frothing at.
Both camps spruiking some incredible recruiting. We all know about Carey's influx of the magical 5 which the VAFA duly reported on...Curnow, Ceppi, Ashby, Crocker and Lock...but it seems that they have also enticed 3-4 kids to the Panthers who were all gun juniors. Got close on draft day, all went to the school and can really play.
Scotchies have done something very similar. An ex Mazenod student who was a gun at school has chosen to play B Grade with Scotch (interesting) rather than Mazenod. Plus a host of youngsters from other leagues, notably a couple from the EFL.
Round 1 - Panthers vs Cardinals. Winner will surely be favourite at Maplebet come 4.30pm.
For the Love of The Game.

i am not sure whether to take from that you are a soak or a soaker-up of amateur football information.:D

possibly both.

every team starts a season with optimism, the cardinals would be no different

thank you again for the gossip.

Mr Sui,
Some have been known to call me a stroker of information.
But I prefer the soaker. Much more positive and less stiff.
Yes, most clubs do start with optimism, but I can assure you the Cardinals are starting to bubble over with enthusiasm. They are incredibly happy with how their list has taken shape in the last couple of months.
I'm starting to think that flat footy may get a big surprise innseason 2017.
Maplebet has just installed them as favourites after the mail of the last few weeks.
Big!

mr canada,

with every respect due to you maplebet needs to review their odds as the panthers are very, very warm favourites to take the silverware everywhere else.

they are not anywhere near as red hot as st kevin’s old and new boys in premier but still at odds too short for me.
