Very interesting with J Ernest at Blacks - has played 5 senior games for Carey but only one after 30 June (yesterday). So unless he plays next week (which would seem doubtful) he will not qualify for Carey finals. He has to play 2 games after 30 June if he plays 5 VAFA games but less than 8 in the season.

Ernest is a regular at Richmond VFL and they had the bye this week. So agree unlikely he will be playing for Blacks again. Would be handy for them as he is very good.
Bernie’s were missing a few . That’s why I have them as my very strong favourite. But all 4 teams playing finals this year are very good.

Blacks will definitely be hoping they can keep Ernest next week.
Otherwise, Knight returned in the seconds this week, Bean played the last 2 games there, Mahon was the runner and looks set to go and Robbins is back for finals. That ought to strengthen them for a finals run.

Unfortunately won’t see them next week. Big game at the Uni, Blues and Scotch in a relegation battle! Mouth watering stuff.

Totally out coached by Passador in the big relegation game a couple of weeks ago. Sat in his chair all day.
Suspect he lost interest some time ago, Les. Perhaps when he knew his time at the Jackas was over.

Got Port to two GFs. Winning one and getting a team that was nowhere near the 2nd best team in the comp to the big dance on the other occasion.

You don't achieve that if you're a coaching slouch.

Maybe had a pretty good team.

Can Bedford or Hansie find a tip to challenge Archangel17 for this year's tipping crown?

Round 18 fixture is:

Beaumaris v Hailebury - this is the game where there could be a "swing" tip in my opinion...I'll stick with Beauie
Old Carey v Monash Blues - OC by a country mile
Mazenod v Uni Blacks - Blacks by even more
AJAX v St Bernards - Bernards by a huge amount and C Jones to pass the ton
Parkdale v Caulfield - too much at stake - Caulfield in a canter
Ill take these too

I suspect the shocks and twists & turns are done for the year, with this looking like a straight forward round.

Beaumaris v Haileybury - At home and needing a win, it would be tough to not pick the sharks, but maybe they've given up on a Parkdale upset and will drop their bundle. Still on the Sharks.
Old Carey v Monash Blues - OC by a bit, but what a great effort if Monash do stay up. They looked gone mid season.
Mazenod v Uni Blacks - This will a nasty end to a really disappointing Mazenod season. It would appear they gave up some weeks ago, which is a real shame because they're not a bad club.
AJAX v St Bernards - Ouch. Even though a win would likely keep them up, Ajax no chance.
Parkdale v Caulfield - Caulfield are rolling and with Page, Reilly, Woodman & Thompson all on the park together, are nearing full strength at the right time of the year.

Yes, have to agree with these tips.
I’m hearing all 4 finals bound teams will be pretty full strength barring any unfortunate last round injuries come Sept 1.
Looking forward to some fab footy.
Nothing is certain come September.
Just look at some of the results with the woman.

I believe Ernest may play at Blacks tomorrow and qualify for finals.

Yes. He hasn’t set the world on fire at Richmond, so is very much a borderline to play finals with them IMO. They are giving Charlie Thompson (Carey) another run this week.
If Carey play Blacks in a preliminary, the fortunes of each team will be heavily dependent on which way the Richmond football club decides to go.
Both players are extremely good B Grade Ammo players.

Could Chad Jones win the Moore Medal this year? 100 goals* is mind boggling. VAFA website has him named in the best in every game but two. BOG for six.

*hoping he gets there.

Yep there’s not much chance of a roughy getting up so these tips look good. Let’s hope so anyway!

I’m sure he will. Been magnificent. Missed 3-4 games as well by memory.
Huge chance to win Moore Medal. Although Bentick will poll very very well. As will Ashby from Carey. And Carlson at Blacks has been prominent when I’ve seen them play.
I’d have Bentick as favourite. Umps like him.

Congratulations to Archangel17 who held off a barnstorming Hansie in the last 4 rounds to win the 2018 tipping competition by 1.

Very pleased and proud that Monash have avoided relegation despite the intensive setbacks of 2018. Have stuck it right up a great many doubters. Character is a serious factor and often in relegation battles it counts for more than plain talent. Time now to regroup and continue on the good work of 16/17.

Well done on retaining you spot in B grade Les but if you reflect honestly on your season is 4 wins and % of 48 sticking it right up anybody? Any other season in recent memory and you heading to C grade. Old Scotch heading your way despite 6 wins and a % of 96.

Hope you get a better crack at next year and no doubt you will bounce back but based on your 2018 record the doubters probably had every right to doubt.

Couldn’t care less pal. The doubters can please themselves. We struggled massively but have survived on pure character.
