I don't post very often, but enjoy the banter, always good natured and (somewhat, mostly) friendly.
I've seen Willi several times this year, and they could lose the Grand Final (if they get that far) because of their shabby first quarters. They crank up after quarter time.
As for the debate on the final four, and coming in from left field (that's the jungle side of the bridge), and from the games I've seen, not necessarily in order:
Fitzroy
Willi CYs
PEGS
Old Ivanhoe

FWIW.

The Jungle drums are beating this morning.
So do I take it that these are the 4 teams you have been most impressed with from what you have seen. Not a top 4 prediction?
Max read this and headed straight down to the pub to celebrate..via the Tatts shop. He woke up very happy and feeling very lucky!

Correct Hipster!
As an aside, earlier in the season there were two standout teams. Now it's all different; the two earlier standouts haven't slipped but the other eight have ALL lifted their game thus rising to the occasion. C Grade is an extremely strong and competitive competition and the two grand final teams, whoever they may be will certainly be competitive in B Grade.

Big Week in C Grade Footy Lads,
Royboys won’t give the other mob a Penzance.
Would be silly not to tip Willy.
OM’s at home to win just.
Eagles at home to swoop the hoops.
PEGS at home to get the better of the Weller.

Fitzroy comfortably.
Willy in a canter.
Mentone pushed OC, repeat of that performance gets them a win. Tough one to pick. Mentone in an upset but no confidence.
Old Geelong were disappointing v PEGS, if they play like they did last week Marcellin win. Marcellin in reasonable form. Old 8 point game. Bye may have come at a good time for Geelong. Stick with Marcellin.
PEGS in a tight one. Another 8 point game. Ruck battle between Baddeley and Campbell should be worth a belter. Bennett v Rominyak. Sauce kicked 10 last time they met. Bennett is a very good player.

Round 13 Tips:-

Fitzroy vs Peninsula
St Mary's Salesian vs Williamstown CYMS
Old Mentonians vs Old Ivanhoe
Marcellin vs Old Geelong
PEGS vs Old Camberwell

Dropped into Brunswick St yesterday and umpiring was as poor as I have seen in many years. Perfect example is at 24:30 min mark of last quarter. #31 of Fitzroy landed big elbow and yet no free was paid despite the umpire being right on the spot. Poor effort by both parties....

I was drawn enough by your description of a 'landed big elbow' to have a look on VAFA TV
  • 24:30 mark of last quarter - check
  • # 31 of Fitzroy - check
  • High Contact, Elbow/Forearm - check
  • # 9 Peninsula pushing # 31 fair square in the back, catapulting # 31 Fitzroy headfirst and out of control into the contest [accidentally] making contact with Pirates player #1 - No mention M106 - why is this?

Did you drop in and sit next to the timekeepers?

The Army, yes the review of last weeks game was honest and raw.

In reality the team's average age (Excluding the big fella) would be around 22, with 8 players from last years Under 19 Grand Final playing.

Based on form we "could have" beaten Marcellin and PEGS - Lost both, one by a goal (leading most of the day) and the other we were blown out in the last quarter.
Based on form we "should have" beaten OM - lost 2nd round. Never in it.
Based on form we shouldn't have gotten close to Willy and OG's. In winning positions and lost both by under a goal.

Funnily enough the OM game was the only one we weren't even close to win.

Like all clubs, many serious injuries has curtailed our season.

The club has gone through significant change from 2017 to 2018, with nearly every club official and coach, changing. The players have bought into the new regime with attendance at record levels.

Under 19's have gone to Divi 2 for the 1st time and a very competitive, with a chance to play finals.
Reserves are possible finalists.
Women's team will play finals in their 1st year.

So not all bad at the Lodge.

With regard to the trees. In hind site, funny but bloody dangerous. Two large native trees fell into the car park, damaging one empty car. If it was 90 minutes later it would have been seen potential fatal outcomes (not an exaggeration).

Great post. A club is much more than just its senior men’s team.
A finals appearance by the ressies, an unders flag, having a woman’s team...so much enjoyment for so many.
FTLOTG!

Hopes for Wellers swelling?
After 4 rounds, they sat 10th.
After 6 rounds, 8th at 2-4.
Since then 7-0.
Including a 4 goal away win at Fitzroy.
2 horse race..or are Camberwell the real deal?
Thoughts?
