Geez! The thread has somehow shifted from 'C' division matters to something else.

Perhaps the points discussion should find its rightful home in the General Discussion thread and our beloved leader and master of order could move the posts there - where the fat cat club mouthpieces can continue their pleadings for continued entitlement.;)

Jascave. Who won the Rovers B & F?

GO GIANTS!

A tad simplistic there, Dougie.

There are extremely hard working dedicated people at both Rovers and Ormond. Both clubs have good junior set-ups but lose players to not only paying comps but other VAFA clubs too. Some snagged by their schools after those clubs have nurtured them.

What they don't have is a wealthy school trust that tips in buckets; a strong network of power brokers; a ready-made school based recruiting nursery; the possibility of scholarships; connections to the commercial sector; top rate facilities that eventuated, in large part, as a result of the big bucks those associated with the club tipped in, et al. Like, say, SKOB.

Anyway, the points system is here to stay, as it should.

While I agree that the top end of town has some distinct advantages, it is not all one-way traffic. A decade or so back we had our best your player stolen from right under our nose ‘in season’ by Hampton Rovers (then in C grade) on the promise of an electrical apprenticeship.

All clubs have contacts and networks of varying value. Some clubs just have more and some clubs just work harder.

Talking of OG’s man. Mickey Nichols off the EDFL. Will the exodus start?

Although they had quite big list numbers there wasn't a lot of quality. So losing any top end talent would be a major cause of concern.

Is that the fly in player from Queensland no one knows about?
Pretty decent of him to spend $500 a week of his hard earned to fly in and play with Old Ivanhoe Max, that's only $9,000.00 per year. Is handing him the B & F part of the deal? :airplane:😎

Mal runs a success business called Concrete Collective (https://concretecollective.com.au/) based in Heidelberg West. Has done that for the last 4 years. He wins the B&F because he is one of the best footballers running around. By the way he has also captained the club since he was 22. Only goes to Qld for holidays.

Max , has anyone done a team of the year ? Lets try and do one. Lets nominate . We probably have 6 to put up Hanley , Szydlik, Kennedy, Oaten and the 2 Buckleys. That's nominations , Willy would have a few with Jones and Johnstone the standouts.

bedford Any reason why Ormond "released' their senior and reserve coaches after what many would consider a very sucessful year? I would have thought 2 3rd placings after coming a grade a success.
Curious

Surely an impossible task without all clubs being repped in this forum and most of us only seeing other clubs once or twice per year. Maybe possible if there are others like Max and yourself than can nominate from each club

Good call , just trying to put a bit of interest on the thread. Max knows C very well and when I bagged Willy they came out on here.

Hey Maxwell Smart

Do OI fly anyone in to play is the question I think?

Interested EYE

Still nothing from Ormond, did they move too quick in removing removing coaches .
Seems from the outside a massive overreaction. Unless those in charge of the levers right the ship pronto there is a distinct prospect of losing some hard working officials, so the rumours go.
